Sowing

I totally underestimated the strength of the winds of Tanegashima when I began farming on this island during Autumn of 2014. Actually I brought a San Diego, California farming mentality to this island and soon found out it does not work.

I made farm beds and put the seeds directly into the soil as opposed to setting out seedlings....this worked in California. A couple of typhoons and an Autumn of strong winds later, I watched the struggling vegetables get blown over and they eventually withered away.
