Sad and Ashamed to be American
American society has degraded into a place filled with
violence and hate. The events which transpired during the
presidential election of 2016 and the continuing post
election trend towards widespread violence and
discrimination has made me SAD AND ASHAMED TO BE AMERICAN.

America
No Longer Exists
The America I knew and loved no longer exists and I may
return home again.
I grew up in a small village called Kenmore, located in
Western New York, north of, and adjacent to, the city of
Buffalo. As with any place in America, things were not
perfect, but when I was a child, it certainly seemed as
close to perfect as you could get. I lived in the same house
for my entire childhood, played with the same friends, and
went to the same places on a regular basis.
Sure there was discrimination, especially for a Jewish kid
like me growing up in a predominately Christian neighborhood.

The
Worst Day for American Democracy
There it is, one of the most awful desecrations of American
democracy I have ever seen. I could not help but wonder why
all the law enforcement, federal troops, or whoever, could
not keeps these assholes out of the capitol building. Things
were sure a lot different when the peaceful “Black Lives
Matter” protesters were tear-gassed, and beaten, without
even having breached The White House grounds. And why isn’t
Trump being immediately thrown out of office. He has a
couple more weeks to incite more riots, causing more death
and destruction. INVOKE THE 25TH AMENDMENT ALREADY.

Censorship
and Social Media Companies
Gosh, as I’m writing this I really feel like I’m getting
sucked in again. When we returned to Japan I made a deal
with myself not to get crazy over the happenings in America anymore….what was the point?
We have no intention of ever stepping foot on American soil
again. Then, within a week, the capitol building was stormed
by Trump supporters, and Twitter finally deleted Trump’s
account, hopefully for good.

Town of Julian, California Sucks
Yup our six months in America were the worst ever for this family. A few months
after moving there we could not wait to get out. From the climate to the people,
this place is not much better than landing on the set of Back to the Future
II....motorcycle gangs, gun owners, excessive drug use, and alcohol abuse. Happy to be out and not ever
returning....read on, you will not believe. FYI, pretty sure we saw Biff walking
around town.

America the
Land of the over regulated
I could write volumes about the rules and regulations in
place at both the local and national levels designed to
ensure our “safety”, but my intent here is not to write a
book, but to simply open the minds of those of you reading
this who still think you are living in America, The Land of
the Free.
Many things, which most would consider to be unalienable
rights, have been slowly stripped away from us to the point
of infringing on, not only our constitutional rights, but on
our rights as American citizens, and even more basically, on
our rights as human beings. The regulations on our daily
lives were imposed so slowly and quietly, that most went
unnoticed, became law, went uncontested, and were
unknowingly accepted by the American public.

What
America Should do about Illegal Immigration
As I write this, I find myself in conflict with opposing
thoughts about what the United States should do about
illegal immigration. My grandparents were Russian Jews who
emigrated from Russia to Canada in the early 1900’s to
escape persecution. Although I am sure they were required to
go through some legal processing before becoming Canadian
citizens, I am unsure as to how stringent the rules and
regulations were at that time. All I know is that thanks to
Canada, they were allowed a chance to begin a new life in a
new country.

The Possession of all Guns Should be Illegal
Although mass
shootings do not account for the largest amount of deaths
per year, when compared to homicides, this type of crime is
undoubtedly the worst. Think about it. If a couple of gangs
or drug dealers what to go under a freeway overpass and
shoot the shit out of each other, great. But when someone
walks into a shopping mall, a restaurant, and worst of all,
an elementary school, and wipes out half a dozen innocent
people or more, then something needs to change.

Guns Should Be Banned
The possession of guns should be illegal in the United
States. GUNS ARE FOR INJURING AND KILLING, NOTHING MORE, and
should not even exist in a civilized society, simply look at
the numbers. The United States population owns an estimated
total of 300 million guns, averaging approximately 112.6
guns per 100 residents putting the U.S. in worldwide
undisputed first place, with its' closest rival being Serbia
with 75.6 guns per 100 residents. Even scarier is America
has an average death rate of approximately 10 people per
100,000 population per year which puts the U.S. in close
competition with South and Central American countries like
Panama. The 2016 shooting in Orlando, Florida which killed
50 and injured 53 and the San Bernardino, California
shooting of 2015 which killed 14 and injured 21 more could
have easily been prevented if guns were not so easily
available.

The National Rifle Association
Should be Disbanded
Justice Ginsberg so eloquently stated the following, while
speaking in an interview on public radio station WNYC, when
she called the Second Amendment "outdated," saying:
When we no longer need people to keep muskets in their home,
then the Second Amendment has no function ... If the Court
had properly interpreted the Second Amendment, the Court
would have said that amendment was very important when the
nation was new; it gave a qualified right to keep and bear
arms, but it was for one purpose only—and that was the
purpose of having militiamen who were able to fight to
preserve the nation.
Groups like the NRA,
who promote gun ownership, and the people themselves who own
guns, are taking humanity in the wrong direction. The ONLY
PURPOSE FOR GUNS IS TO INJURE OR KILL, nothing more.
And leave it up to people to lower themselves to their
darkest levels when they get depressed or stressed out. How
many times did you listen to the news about some overworked
postal employee (sorry guys), who one day snapped and ended
up in a crowded restaurant with his semi-automatic rifle,
and blew away a handful of people. Then the next day on the
news they interview the neighbors who insist the shooter was
"such a nice man" who always said hi. Even the thought of
background checks or waiting periods is irrelevant. Any
person is capable of any action at any time.
Think what a society would be like with no guns. No need to
think very long. Simply take a look at a place like Japan
where gun ownership is 100 percent illegal. Think how
wonderful it is to walk along the streets, with a wallet
full of cash, and not have any fear of being shot....even in
a metropolitan city like Tokyo. The countryside is even
safer, and filled with friendly, giving people. American
society is filled with angry, frustrated, freaked out
people, and the last thing you should be putting in their
hands is the capability of brutally murdering a room full of
innocent people.

Trump
and his family full of Jews
I wrote this page with a great sense of pleasure. When
Donald Trump was first running for president it seemed all
hope might be gone for American Jews, and around the world,
for that matter. But guess what, he has a family full of
Jews.

A
Bit of Personal History
The year was 2016 and I was sitting with my wife and
two sons watching the presidential election results
come in from our small rental house on a small
island in Japan. We watched online and stared at the
computer screen in disbelief as Trump pulled off an
upset win and became the 45th president of the
United States of America. Who would have thought? We
were in the process of selling my condo in
California and purchasing a property up in the San
Diego county mountains....all being negotiated
online. We had no choice since the owner of the
rental home had plans to use the house again. Rather
than wait to get kicked out, we took matters into
our own hands and made the decision to move back to
America. This plan became clouded thanks to the
election of Trump but the wheels of relocation were
already in motion. |
I
was distraught and spent hours online over the span
of a few weeks writing about Trump in the hopes some
of my efforts would result in changes and things
would improve before we returned to California.
Nothing changed and after only six months, we sold
the mountain property and returned to our small
little island in Japan. Now with the 2020 election
finished, and Trump officially out as president, I
was going to delete this entire section. Then I
decided it was important for my sons to know what
their family stands for and what pushed us to make
the choice to permanently live in Japan. Anyway, the
following are old Trump related posts. |

American
President
Lewis Rothschild:
People want leadership, and in the absence of genuine
leadership, they'll listen to anyone who steps up to the
microphone. They want leadership. They're so thirsty for it
they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when
they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand.
Andrew Shepard: We've had
Presidents who were beloved who couldn't find a coherent
sentence with two hands and a flashlight. People don't drink
the sand 'cause they're thirsty. They drink the sand 'cause
they don't know the difference. (Trump supporters)
