This is a story about an international couple raising and home educating three young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages are about pretty much anything and everything all guided by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes, Being Happy. Thank you very much for joining us on our ongoing crazy adventure.

Hey Everyone,

Hi and welcome to my resources page. I spent many years working on my Internet projects. These projects utilized information from a variety of sources including many in the public domain. If the information from these sources was useful in some way, then it seemed reasonable to provide links to these pages as a way of saying thanks. This information is now spread out in numerous files on my computer. I decided to finally get all this information in one place and to put it all online for others to use. Hopefully many of you find the information on this resource page useful. Everything will be more ordered as more links and information is posted. Keep in mind these pages are kind of like my file cabinet and not everything will be interesting for everyone. As always thanks for visiting and making my years of work worthwhile.

Heading to Japan?

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) finally has much of their site in English now....might have been all along and simply could not find these pages. Anyway, these are few useful links, including many specific to our location which you can use if planning to visit Tanegashima. A good idea to check the JMA pages before coming to Japan as information about weather in Asia does not always hit the American weather sites in a timely manner, especially when it comes to typhoons.
  • JMA home page
  • Then click "Weather" to access local information
  • Then scroll to the Observation Table and click "Extra detail"
  • Then click "Observation Map" which gives you links to all the information you will need for your trip
