This is a story about an international couple raising and home educating three young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages are about pretty much anything and everything all guided by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes, Being Happy. Thank you very much for joining us on our ongoing crazy adventure.

- Facebook Post - Now at izakaya drinking again. Now 330 in the morning and party finished.

- Facebook Post - Yoshino Cherry Blossom Viewing. This is a favorite annual event in Japan. We are planning to travel to Yoshino Mountain on April 14th to see the cherry blossoms. This is going to be the third year to make this pilgrimage. Beautiful trees, scenic views, quaint shops, and of course the numerous stores offering FREE SAKE TASTING. Then you find a nice place to sit under the cherry trees, eat good food, drink wine, and enjoy the view with family and friends. This link has good information about Yoshino Mountain.

- Facebook Post - Poisonous Fish Yummy. We ate something called Fugu, AKA Takifugu, a couple weeks before at a family dinner party. This is a Japanese delicacy. The toxin in this fish is called tetrodotoxin, or more precisely anhydrotetrodotoxin 4-epitetrodotoxin and is about 1200 times worse than cyanide. Click the following link if you want to know more. Bon Appetit.

- Facebook Post - This week finished installing shoji window coverings. Purchased new tatami for a couple rooms. Although pretty expensive was worth every yen for sure. Getting ready to make a guest house. If we cannot obtain a license then planning to rent the property. Beginning of bbq season.
