This is a story about an international couple raising and home educating three young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages are about pretty much anything and everything all guided by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes, Being Happy. Thank you very much for joining us on our ongoing crazy adventure.

- Facebook Post - Nice Japanese kabocha from garden. Hey really wanna thank Jim and Linda for sending such nice presents.

- Facebook Post - ALL PACKED FOR CAMPING TOMORROW. ADJACENT HOUSE SOLD TODAY.  Bought this place about a year ago, spent around 6 months doing some very basic remodeling, put it on the market, and it sold in a day. Finished up the equivalent of Japanese escrow today. Now getting ready to head up to Yoshino Mountain for some hiking, fishing, drinking, and relaxing.

- Facebook Post - YOSHINO MOUNTAIN CAMPING. Pretty busy last weekend. Friday sold the adjacent house then went up to the mountains for a couple days. Played in the mountain river. Went fishing during a thunderstorm. Went to the onsen. Made a barbecue at night. It was raining like crazy. Then a little before midnight the rain and clouds went away in time for Perseids Meteor Shower. Next day on the way home played in the river again. NARA PARK LIGHT UP. Went to see a few famous places lit up in Nara Park last night. This is a really quiet festival in Japan. Many temples are lit up and they make a fire on the mountain to form a kanji in Japanese. Tons of people again as usual. Finished off the night drinking beer and eating in the park. GROWING A BIT OF GOBO THIS YEAR.

- Facebook Post - Made a bunch of new friends at the community center today.

- Facebook Post - MICKEY MOUSE???? A mega thunderstorm off in the distance tonight looked a lot like Mickey Mouse. Beautiful sky tonight.

- Facebook Post - MYOJIN MOUNTAIN. Went hiking at this place almost every day during a three month vacation in Japan a few years ago. Really nice view of Nara and surrounding mountains.

- Facebook Post - Really nice sunset with farms in the foreground.

- Facebook Post - AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. A few separate storms. Picture was taken from the farms close to the house. Received a pretty good amount of rain today. RAINBOW AND THUNDERSTORMS. This afternoon was really incredible. Was sunny and raining like crazy with a beautiful rainbow all at the same time. Picture was taken from the veranda. Possibly more of this tomorrow while camping.

- Facebook Post - Cannot describe feeling now. Tent and canopy a few feet from the shoreline. Now nighttime and sound of waves crashing. Moon is getting ready to set. Cool breeze blowing. Drinking beer. Beyond reality. This place is incredibly beautiful. Probably gonna stay an extra night. Now arrived after a four hour drive. Ready to leave for camping.

- Facebook Post - CAMPSITE ON THE COAST. Really incredible time camping last weekend. Campsite on the coast for only about 15 bucks a night. Actually ended up staying an extra day. This was three nights and four days of fun.

- Facebook Post - THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO WTF???? Yup sold the adjacent house a few weeks ago as many of you know. Today new owners began some mega remodeling. They decided to put in new flooring and were gonna throw out the new tatami we put in. This is about 800 bucks of new flooring. We asked about this and ended up getting all this flooring back. Crazy. Gonna use it in our house now. Japanese thinking is really difficult to understand. Worked out good for us though. WTF. IS THIS CAMPING???? After camping in a cabin in a secluded place a few weeks ago and then kinda roughing it four days and three nights last weekend decided to try out some antiseptic Japanese style camping. Going fishing for a couple days and needed to compromise with the wife to stay in this camping place. Last weekend was about 45 bucks for three nights. This place is actually the same price for one night. This is like camping in your backyard. You really gotta take a look at this link. Funny.
