This is a story about an international couple raising and home educating three young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages are about pretty much anything and everything all guided by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes, Being Happy. Thank you very much for joining us on our ongoing crazy adventure.

- Facebook Post - RUNNING IN THE RAIN. Was pouring rain and in the eighties today. Went out running with Akiko and Shai. Um actually she was walking with an umbrella. Really nice time and little dude enjoyed getting soaked. Now in the middle of monsoon season in Japan. A few friends went home and then more came in the evening. This was kind of the late shift. This party went on until 3:30 next morning. Doing this all again in a few weeks.

- Facebook Post - JAPANESE MOUNTAIN BIKE. Purchased this bike at least 8 years ago during a three month stay in Japan. Was teaching English then and rode miles to work in the rain. Bike is a bit rusty but still good. Maybe a couple of years before little Shai can ride this bike. A COUPLE DAYS OF RAIN EQUALS A COUPLE DAYS OF LAUNDRY. Built this laundry room to accommodate exactly this situation. Was actually able to hang out everything. Tomorrow is back to monsoon again.

- Facebook Post - THUNDERSTORMS WONDERFUL EVENING. Now raining like crazy and thunderstorms. Turned off lights in the house except a small night light and watched the storms with little Shai until he went to sleep. Now sitting and relaxing in the living room, drinking wine, and listening to the rain in the yard. Tonight is really reminiscent of a typical Summer night growing up in Kenmore, New York. Can sleep good tonight.

- Facebook Post - KITCHEN BEFORE PULLING OUT CABINETS. Yup finally got tired of these old cabinets and the mold lurking behind them. Found a shotengai. Went bike riding a few days ago in what turned out to be a pretty good rain storm. Was trying to find a new way to Nara Park and happened upon this quaint little shopping district.

- Facebook Post - Kitchen cabinets ready to be recycled. Was able to reuse counters.

- Facebook Post - DESTRUCTION FINISHED AND NOW CONSTRUCTION BEGINS. This is the beginning of our new camping style kitchen. Was actually able to salvage the stainless steel sink and cook stove counters from the old unit. This probably saved around 200 bucks. Used a type of leveling concrete on the sides to keep food from falling in the back. From now planning to change everything a little bit at a time. Want the kitchen in the picture posted before entitled KITCHEN INSPIRATION.

- Facebook Post - CONSTRUCTION FINISHED AND NOW DESTRUCTION BEGINS. ALTERNATIVE TITLE
BEST LAID PLANS OF MICE AND MEN. Kitchen is now coming out in the adjacent house after being informed from the stinky local government plans for a bed and breakfast hotel and coffee shop are not possible. MOTAI NAI. Bringing the tile counter to this house to be included in the upcoming remodel. Adjacent house goes up for sale next week.

- Facebook Post - This was the kitchen before pulling out the counter.

- Facebook Post - RETURN OF THE ANDRAZ. Yup now Andraz and his friends are staying in the adjacent house. They brought lots of nice presents from their home country of Slovenia. They will be joining the English conversation class this weekend and of course the MEGA SUMMER PARTY 2012 in only 3 days now.

- Facebook Post - YOSHINO IZAKAYA FUSION KITCHEN. Was able to finish kitchen remodeling in time for party tomorrow. This kitchen is a little bit Yoshino Mountain camping cabin and Japanese izakaya. Really exhausted from a few weeks of house projects. Now drinking and relaxing.

- Facebook Event - MEGA SUMMER PARTY 2012 - Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 3:00 PM

- Facebook Post - A SMALL PARTY AFTER PARTY. Decided to get together with a few friends again. Much quieter this time. Hey get some good sleep tonight.
