This is a story about an international couple raising and home educating three young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages are about pretty much anything and everything all guided by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes, Being Happy. Thank you very much for joining us on our ongoing crazy adventure.

- Facebook Post - TYPHOON KHANUN COMING
We spent about a week harvesting food including, 22 bunches of bananas from our farm and tons of veggies and especially herbs from our home garden ahead of what will be almost a direct hit from a category one typhoon sometime tomorrow. This is a picture of the entry to our home and garden where we grow a lot of our veggies and herbs. A few bitter melon gourds are hanging from a net made out of jute. Anyway we are prepared for tomorrow and what should turn out to be a crazy storm.

- Facebook Post - TYPHOON KHANUN HAS ARRIVED
We are now in a strong section of the eyewall of Typhoon Khanun and getting slammed with strong winds and torrential rains. We spent days preparing for this (please read my previous post) and are getting through it with apparently no problems. There is a chance even my bitter melon gourds will be okay. Thanks to all of you who reacted, commented, and sent your prayers and thoughts on my previous post.

- Facebook Post - Hey Friends. Thank you very much for your prayers and concerns about the typhoon. The storm is moving away now but still the winds are pretty strong and getting torrential rains. We drove to our farm and to a few of the beaches close to our home while our location was in the eye of the storm. A lot of the banana trees were leaning and most likely will need to be propped up again. Our home garden, which was mostly harvested, made it through. The house and the other buildings sustained no damage. Again thank you very much for your prayers and concerns.

- This was overnight trip number 48 and was for three days and two nights. The first day of the trip we did not work. We went to the mountain and set up for camping and then went to the fireworks festival. Then the second day the real estate agent who sold us the mountain showed up at the campsite. We continued working on B and now there was a great view of the reservoir and the decision to move the campsite there was made. Packed turmeric.
