This is a story about an international couple raising and home educating three young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages are about pretty much anything and everything all guided by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes, Being Happy. Thank you very much for joining us on our ongoing crazy adventure.

Beach Trash Pick Up and Plum Juice

- Today we went to our new beach to pick up trash. This time the weeding tool was used to smooth out the road. The sand totally rounded out the blade. At night we got a bit drunk from plum juice which Akiko made while making plum wine. She mixed this with white wine and it was really good.

Independence Day Party

- Today we had an Independence day party with Miharasan and his family. It was a lot of fun. The kids put on a really good music performance.

Mountain Camping

- This was overnight trip number 44 and was for two days and one night. This trip was all about making a basically permanent but movable toilet. This project was built over both days since all the work needed to be done by hand including installing over 100 screws 75 millimeters each.

Beach Trash Pick Up

- Pretty sure we went to our new beach, from now known as yak beach, to do trash pick up.

Beach Trash Pick Up

- Today we went to yak beach to do trash pick up. Once again the weeding tool was used and the road to the campsite was finished.

Beach Camping and Party

- We went camping at yak beach for four days and three nights. This time both the bus and the truck were used. Me and the boys drove in the bus with the yaks and Akiko drove the truck. The truck was used for daily trips home after breakfast to poo and shower and refresh a bit. This was also the first trip to use our other new single person tent. Akiko and Ethan and Lael slept in the new huge tent. I slept in the bus. Shai slept in the other new tent. The second day me and Lael went home in the truck to refresh and then returned to the beach and drew pictures of the small islands. The second day me and Shai took the yaks all the way to Hamada beach and caught a bunch of fish. Then at night Lael played guitar at the beach. Really cool. Then all of us went crab catching with flashlights on the beach. Then on the night of the third day, we had a beach party with our friends. The next day we returned home and I forgot to do the usual pictures and videotape.

- Facebook Post - This was the setup for our recent four day and three night beach camping and kayak fishing trip. The truck, the bus, two kayaks, and three tents. This beach is about eight minutes from our house.

- Facebook Post - This is a picture of us during our four day and three night beach camping and kayak fishing trip. Caught a bunch of fish and had a California style beach party with friends doing barbeque and playing guitars. A day at home and now we are headed up to our mountain for more camping.

Mountain Camping

- This was overnight trip number 45 and was for three days and two nights. This trip was all about working on the access road which is now graded, wider, weeded, and much nicer. The first day our friends came with their daughter at about 9 pm. The second day other friends came at about 6 pm. This was a fun trip albeit a lot of work in hot and humid weather. The property is much better now.
