This is a story about an international couple raising and home educating three young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages are about pretty much anything and everything all guided by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes, Being Happy. Thank you very much for joining us on our ongoing crazy adventure.

- House Purchase. After a few weeks of negotiations, we purchased the adjacent property for an unbelievably low price, the equivalent of $4000. The house is one of three houses built at the same time, including our house. The adjacent house is almost exactly the same except our house has a first floor bedroom and a second floor veranda. The condition of the adjacent house was pretty awful when we bought it. In some ways better and some ways worse than our house. The fact I already spent a year repairing our house made working on the adjacent house easier but still difficult.

Typhoon Muifa. This storm is on the way to either Korea or Japan. Probably will stay on the west side of Japan and not affect us at all.

- Facebook Post - Sakurai, Japan, Onbara Fireworks Festival. Pretty long weekend for sure. A bit of a hangover on Sunday but still managed to find the energy to spend the afternoon and evening in Sakurai, Japan for the Onbara Fireworks Festival. Tons of people, plenty of yatai, food stands, beer, and fun.

- Facebook Post - Annual trip up to the Yoshino Mountains was fantastic. Could not fish though. Recent typhoons raised the level of the lake around 8 meters and wiped out much of the fishing spots. We spent time relaxing, eating, drinking, playing in the river, and enjoying the scenery. Japan has an incredible amount of beautiful places.
- Facebook Comment - Hey come on now. No worries dude means do not think about things too much. Was simply discussing about you. People say all kinds of things about me anytime. No effect on me. Was simply talking with Mimai since everyone is very close from many years ago. Really do not think so much. Anything you say will accept for sure. Apologies if you were offended. Really think you should come and visit when you can.

- Facebook Comment - Hey you are welcome anytime. You can even blow up the toaster if you want. Would be even better if you can make it to a house party. See you then.

- Facebook Post - Through the Eyes of a Two-Year-Old. Was browsing through Wikipedia today when little Shai saw a picture of Dan Quayle and quickly exclaimed “Daddy”….hmmmm. Been told I look like many people before but not the ex Vice-President. Hey at least I can spell POTAYTOE. Can you believe?
