This is a story about an international couple raising and home educating three young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages are about pretty much anything and everything all guided by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes, Being Happy. Thank you very much for joining us on our ongoing crazy adventure.

- Football in the Rice Fields. Happy New Year. あけましておめでとうございます。We ended 2011 and began 2012 doing basically the same thing. Playing football in the rice fields. New Years Eve we ate a bit of traditional Japanese food but Akiko basically wanted to eat pasta to go along with the nice wine we bought. We plan on staying in for the remainder of today. January 2 we are going to spend with family and eat New Years food and no doubt drink too much. January 3 we are traveling to Kobe to visit with relatives. This year looks to be pretty busy overall with all the new Internet projects, plans for the adjacent house, and keeping my extensive list of New Years resolutions. がんばるは。

- New Years With the Family. Spent the afternoon and evening with the family drinking....way too much....and eating special food for the new year. Pretty much a traditional annual event. Was too drunk to walk to the train station and we spent the night at the relatives house.
