Hi. Me and Akiko will be moving to the house next week. Been riding the bike
four miles each way to the house every day to finish everything up as quickly as
possible. Although not finished, the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are now all
sparkling and ready for us to move in. We might need to wait a month before we
can get Internet due to the backlog. Might see if we can access the Internet
from the library. Either way communication might be difficult the next few

Hi. We wanted to let you know the house was officially purchased today. Me and
Akiko needed to get the numbers from the electric meter and rode our bikes four
miles each way in forty degree temperatures in the pouring rain with much of the
stuff we purchased for working on the house. It pretty much sucked but no

Hi. I was really sick the last few days and went to get checked today. Really
not wanting to talk about the details but suffice to say it could be from all
the problems over the last few weeks. Went through a few tests and nothing
showed up. Definitely looking forward to getting out of this house and into the
new house. We wired the money from the United States. The money showed up a few
days ago but told the bank to hold the money for a couple days. Waiting paid off
as US economic data along with the resignation of the Japanese Finance Minister
this week pushed the dollar higher. Waiting netted an extra thousand bucks. Me
and Akiko went out and bought a display model refrigerator today for 500 bucks.
It was half price. Anyway, a few more days before the house closes. Hopefully
you are doing really good. I really miss talking with you. Send email when you

Hi. Yeah really cannot wait to get out of this house. Many things for us to talk
about for sure. If you ever marry an American, make sure you stay in the United
States. Many things about Japan are really cool but many things suck. Akiko and
I needed to come to Japan for now because of economic reasons but 100 percent
sure going back as soon as possible hopefully within the next three years. If
Akiko does not come back with me then I am returning alone. We are pretty much
at the point of waiting to see if things get better. Now I am getting older and
difficult to be in these strange situations. I can easily go back to the United
States and be single and totally free. At this point is seems like a better
option. Yes being in a relationship is nice for many reasons but once problems
develop it can be the worst thing in the world. Most of my problems over time
came from being in relationships. More and more thinking being single is better.

I am drunk every night to try and get through dinner with the family. Everything
is better now but still difficult for me. Really want to move to the new house.

Today watched the rice bowl. It is the super bowl of Japan. The players suck if

Hi. I am returning to San Diego within the next couple weeks. Funny the way
things work out. Since we arrived in Japan Akiko is fighting with the sister.
She has developed a really awful metal problem maybe like your sister. She stays
in her room and sometimes comes out and yells at everyone and complains about
everything. It is really awful in the house now. Anyway, Akiko said she cannot
handle this situation and now does not want to purchase the house. I am going to
lose thousands of dollars because of the down payment. I am really pissed off
about everything. Akiko and I now agreed it is best for me to go home. I am
going to stay in SD for good now. To be honest international relationships suck
and Japanese people do not know the way to be a happy family. I realize your
family is unusual and in many way like an American family. My family was really
nice and close. Anyway I cannot wait to get out of Japan and return home. Send

materials used for building this house kinda suck considering the climate. Every

Hi. I actually cannot even think about going back home now. Japan might not be
as exciting as the US but it sure is relaxing. I am sleeping better and happy. I
began studying Japanese today. Yup, actually from a book. Akiko said today she
is actually enjoying being a housewife and can do it when we get the house.
Incredible the way things can change from simply moving to a new place. The
condo in SD will be a good place for us to hang out when we go on vacation but

Hi. I am busy trying to get much of my online stuff finished before moving to
the new house. Still waiting for the offer to be accepted. I took this stuff for

Hi. I totally understand your feeling now. Going back to Japan might not be what
you want now but it really is a good more for you, at least for a little while.
The economy is not good in this country and a change would be good for you.
Everything is going to work out. If you stay positive and move forward, any
experience can be a good experience. Even if you move to Japan you can learn
something new and make contacts which could be valuable for you somday.
I am excited about moving to Japan but all the preparation is making me kind of
freaked out. Today we met friends at the bagel store and I kinda lost it a bit.
Really going to miss a lot of people, especially you if you are not in Japan.
I need to ask you a couple of favors. I was thinking it might be a good idea for
you to stay overnight at our place the night before we leave. This way we are
all together and no problems getting up.

Hi. I was really happy to see you. Yeah Akiko made a good dinner and the cake

Really beginning to freak out about moving. Probably cannot finish all the
projects but way less stuff in the condo this time. Kinda worried about being
isolated for sure. The fact my place in SD is still there makes things a bit
better. Still not sure this will all work out though. I know it is time for a
change though. Really bored in SD now. Not working and really nothing to do. The
condo is not a good place to raise a baby, at least not now.
Hopefully Japanese culture does not make me crazy. Knowing you will be in Japan
makes things even easier. Yup, definitely going to be in contact with you a lot.

Hi. I really need a favor from you. The friends from the mountains finally sent
email back about coming over for dinner. They want to come on the 12th which is
the same day you are supposed to come. They let us come to their house like five
times for the whole weekend. Really important for us to let them come over at
least once to our place before moving. I really want to see you and want to know
if any of the following plans would work for you.
Come for lunch or dinner on Tuesday the 10th.
Come for lunch on Thursday the 12th.
Come and watch the Chargers game on Sunday the 15th.
Come for dinner on Sunday the 15th.
If you cannot make any of these dates then going to arrange something else with
the friends. Whichever plan you can do, it would be nice if you could also come

dinner with us before moving to Japan.

Ayumi,
Hi. I was drinking wine tonight and listening to many songs from my past. It
brought back many good memories of when I was in Buffalo. Really incredible the
way time keeps moving on. You are also a good memory from my past and still
continue to be with me as friends in the present. I can remember many good times
with you both as friends and when we were together as a couple. These memories
of you stay with me.
The fact is I think about you often and worry about you anytime. For sure you
went through the most difficult time in this country. I am not sure what anyone
deserves but if what we get is based on the things we go through then you
definitely deserve to stay in this country out of anyone.
I want to see you happy someday. This is not about money or success but about
happiness. You understand about family and the importance of being around those
who are important to you. I believe this was the strongest connection between
us. In many ways you and I are very much the same. Thinking about the family,
the world, and overall values is very similar.
Anyway, this leads me up to your decision. I definitely think SD is no longer
good for you. Although you were able to experience and learn many things in this
place, it is time to move on. Going to a city towards the other coast is a good
idea but it seems like you are going with no set plan. Realize this is still the
United States and not safe. Many cities on the other coast are also experiencing
problems with the economy and unemployment. It might not be easy for you. In
addition, it will not be warm and you are moving during a difficult time of the
year.
I really think it would be better for you to go back home to Japan for awhile
and regroup. Spend some time with your family and allow yourself to think and
look at the United States from a distance. Much easier to see things when you
can be more objective. Now you are in this country and difficult for you to
understand your true feelings.
In time maybe you could get a job in Japan working for a company which could
transfer you back to this country. I really think this is the best move you at
this time. Really trying to advise you without being biased. The fact is, I
would really miss you and want you to be in Japan. Then we can meet each other.
Anyway, this is my thinking. Might be up a bit longer if you want to write back.

into thinking a situation is what they need to do even though it is really what
they want and not really what is good for them. Yup, change can be difficult but
sometimes needed. Akiko and I decided to move to Japan because we gave SD and
California a chance and things were not working out. Someday if you can ever
open your eyes and look past the guys and the nice sunny days, you will
eventually realize what California is all about. Basically fake, self centered
people who only give a crap about themselves and what they can get from you.
California is headed for some real problems in a few years. Definitely will

Hi. I really think you are making an incredible mistake if you take either
offer. Insurance companies are in business to make money and nothing more. They
do not give a shit about you or anyone else. They are only concerned with
profit. They charge monthly insurance premiums to subscribers based on
statistical analysis of claims over a given period. Then obviously they want to
pay out as little money as possible for each individual claim and then pass
these savings to subscribers.
The amount the insurance company is offering you is crap. They simply want you
to take the money and then your case is finished. When you get hit, you can
easily sustain head and neck injuries which do not show up until years later. If
you accept the money, your case is finished and if you develop problems later,
you are totally screwed and need to pay our of your own pocket. You should take
my advice this time. DO NOT listen to any friend who works for the same company.
They are lying to you and should not be trusted. This is what you should do.
Go to a physical therapist and get checked out. Tell them you were hit and
definitely tell them if you are not feeling good, even if only a little bit.
Then call this attorney. She represented me many years ago and is very good. She
is still in practice and found the information for you. You can tell her about
me and maybe she will remember although it was many years ago. She takes cases
on a contingency basis. This means you pay nothing for her to represent you. The
insurance company cannot take back their offer now. If the attorney wins, you
will pay her between 30 and 40 percent of the settlement. If she loses, you pay
nothing.
Call her and at least talk and explain your situation.

Hi. Akiko and I were on our way home from her appointment today and the truck
totally crapped out on the freeway and we could not go fishing. It was a pretty
awful experience and now the truck will cost about a thousand to repair. We
found out today our benefits are only good for another four months. We thought
it was until next Summer. Now any thought about going back to New York is over.
Pretty much a definite now we will go to Japan in a few months. Many changes

Hi. I am out on the patio now and using the computer. This condo really has a
nice breeze on hot Summer nights. Akiko is sitting out too and reading a
Japanese book. We are probably going fishing tomorrow in the afternoon until
sunset to get away from the warm temperatures. You are probably busy as usual.
This will probably be the last fishing day this year as we need to do many
things within the next few weeks.
Anyway, I totally understand your feeling. Family has always been most
important. Really difficult for someone like you to be in your situation now.
Friends are fun to hang out with but when it really come to who is going to be
there for you, it is only family. Even a relationship can be difficult at times
but family is there for sure.
Within the next few weeks the baby is coming and then I can hang out much more.
Akiko will be happy to home and I am going back to walking again. Hopefully you
are still in SD then. If you leave, I can take some of your stuff if you want to
get rid of anything. Might not be able to pay but can at least pick it up with
the truck. Really think you are going to stay though. Easy to get connected to
the place you visit in another country especially if the place is fit for you.

Hi. I realize the same thing about many “friends” recently. Yup, these days
making a lot more friends who are older and much more stable. They actually show
up for things when you invite them and actually make an effort to see you. All
of my younger “friends”, except for you, pretty much went away. Kind of sad but
those types of friends cannot find someone like me again. Many people out there
will be your “friend” but they are not really there for you anytime.
Anyway, you and I go back a long way and yup we are close even if we do not
meet. If you stay in SD probably we will meet a lot more. Probably we are not
leaving for a few years. Recently many things are unfinished but hopefully

Hi. I am kind of looking at the Internet a couple different ways. Really good
information source and our sites are doing really good now and getting close to

crappy outside.
Actually feeling the same about people now. The Internet actually kind of sucks.
Everyone is losing personal connection with each other. Way too easy to make
friends and delete them. Kind of sad what is happening to society now. About
Risa, she is a total flake. Cannot trust her anytime. She sends email and talks
to friends only when the situation is convenient for her. You can find nicer

Hi. I know you are busy but it only takes a couple of minutes to email a good
friend. I was working over 12 hours per day the last two weeks trying to finish
up 44 new pronunciation videos and still found time to send you email on your
special day. Try not to lose sight of what is really important. Something for

Anyway, not going to be able to meet. Akiko was laid off last week. Now we need
to go to the unemployment office and do many things next week. This was good
timing because I need Akiko to work with me again. She is really happy to be
home now.
We made many new friends recently. Next weekend we are going to stay with our
friends in Palomar again. We spent four hours with them at the bagel shop today.

Ayumi,
Hi. I am finally returning to normal after the four day trip. Actually I meant
to say the house was a mess from all the vacation stuff. Traditionally I come
home from vacation and dump everything on the floor and then mess with it the
next day. In this case it meant four loads of laundry and cleaning out the
coolers and other stuff.
Anyway the trip was incredible. This is pretty much the recap.
Wednesday night
I picked Akiko up from work on Wednesday night. We ate dinner, packed up the
truck and were on the road about 9:30 pm. It was a nice drive with only a bit of
light rain as we approached Las Vegas.
Thursday, Thanksgiving Day
We arrived around 3:00 am and immediately went to our favorite gambling place,
Slots of Fun. This is one of the few places on the strip still offering two
dollar blackjack tables. We gambled and drank for a few hours and then went to
Circus Circus. This is the only time we went to Las Vegas with no room
reservations and Circus Circus was the only hotel with reasonable prices rooms.
They ended up putting us in the manor though which are like little motels in the
back of the main hotel. Normally this would be fine since we are usually up most
of the time and use the room only for sleeping, taking a shower, and um other
stuff. Anyway, there were tons of kids in Las Vegas because of some little
league football convention and the kids were playing in the hallway. I went and
complained to the management and they ended up giving us a spa suite and
reversed the room charge. Pretty cool. We went to the Rio hotel and enjoyed
their Thanksgiving Day champagne brunch. We ate and talked for three hours
believe it or not. They had all the traditional stuff and it was relly
delicious. It began to rain like crazy on the way back to the gambling place and
washed out much of the roads. It was pretty cool though. Good thing for four
wheel drive. We spent the evening gambling and drinking again and then went back
to the room, enjoyed the Jacuzzi, and then went to sleep.
Friday
We woke up and went back to the Rio hotel and ate their breakfast buffet. Then
we drove to the Grand Canyon. We ran into a lot of traffic at Hoover Dam which
through us off a couple hours. We ended up getting the campsite in the early
evening. We were able to get one of two remaining spots and spent the night in
the truck.
Saturday
We woke up early and went to the best spot in the Grand Canyon to watch the
sunrise. It was incredibly beautiful. We then spent the day visiting almost
every view spot on the South Rim. We made it from one end of the South Rim to
the other and then watched the sunset at the best view point. We drove back to
Las Vegas in the early evening and slept for a few hours in the truck.
Sunday
We ate breakfast at the Paris buffet. Incredibly good buffet and excellent
quality food. We then placed ten separate bets on the Sunday games. We lost
money on the Buffalo and San Diego games. We were already ahead on our gambling
but because of the football bets, we ended up losing 24 dollars total on the
trip. We spent the entire afternoon watching football at the Paris hotel. We
walked outside on the strip for awhile at night. It was really warm, almost like
an early Summer night. We saw the fountain show a couple times in front of the
Bellagio hotel. Then we went back to the Paris hotel and hung our for awhile. We
returned home at about 5:00 am Monday, in time to take a shower, go out for
breakfast and then take Akiko to work. She was able to sleep all the way back. I
drove over 1400 miles in four days and it took until today to get back to
normal.

Hi. I really wanted to see you but needed to finish many things in the house.
About the holiday. Akiko and I planned to spend Thanksgiving at home. I was
going to cook as usual and then she wanted to cook. Then she was able to get
Friday off and we decided to go to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon from Wednesday
until Sunday. With these cheap fuel prices it is a good time to drive around. I
was sleeping but we drank too much again and now up and cannot sleep. Send email

Hi. I know, everyone is busy. Really tried to make time for you three days next
week but you cannot. This entire week was spent on the truck and a little bit on
the house. Needed to get the smog done, register, and join the auto club. Spent
a couple days totally detailing the truck. Everyone is looking at it and many

Hi. I am incredibly busy this month. Really want to meet but many appointments
to check many things including teeth, truck and other stuff. Akiko and I will be
going to SF in about a week. We are meeting her cousin from Japan and her
Japanese friend. We plan to make it into a camping trip now because of the
truck.
Been working on the truck for a few days now. Totally cleaning the inside and
the outside. It is really cool. It has 4 wheel drive, electric windows and
doors, magnesium wheel rims and cool off road tires. Really nice burgundy color.

Hi. I am happy now Akiko and I made a plan to move back to Japan. It looks like
we are gonna move to Kobe eventually. My English site is now one of the top
sites on the Internet and planning to focus attention in that direction. Gonna

Hi. I know the last time we talked, it seemed like I was a bit distant. The fact
is I am thinking about you and there for you anytime. Recently going through a
lot too and some problems with Akiko. Basically we are good but now I am not
doing good. Was really sick the last few weeks and really took a lot of my
energy. Now back to working out and slowly getting better. Akiko and my friends
from the last few years, including you, only know me as a retired type of person
and going to college. None of you know the business side at all. Honestly, my
situation is unacceptable now. I should be happy but not happy at all, in fact,
miserable these days. Why? Should be happy. Nice paid off place in a nice warm
city with a nice beautiful wife. The fact is my situation is boring and lonely.
Because I am not out there in the business world, no social contact. Home alone
the entire day with no social interaction and no successful business to be proud
of like years ago. The only happiness recently is eating and drinking. Yup, not
good. Now taking steps to get rid of most of the projects except for the English
site and focus on teaching again.
Anyway, your situation actually sounds good to me, actually better now. Could
not believe you wrote so much about my stuff. Nice change, hehe. Anyway, send

Hi. Actually I turned off the phone and going to get rid of it soon. Nobody
calls anyway except for telemarketers. Tell me about your new place.
Anyway, I was waiting to see which of my sites would be good at the end of last
month. My English site is way outperforming the SD site. Akiko and I now are
considering using the popularity of the site and opening English schools in
Japan and possibly other countries. If this happens, we will be permanently out
of San Diego, yippee. Quite honestly, neither one of us like the people in this
city. The women are stupid and the men cannot form an opinion about anything.
People are more interested in being loud, wearing nice clothes, and who you
know. There is no sophistication in this city and no value for intelligence.
Anyway, time to move on. Recently in contact with friends from New York and very
refreshing to get straight answers about everything. Anyway, enough already. We
are both ready and happy to leave. In addition, we DO NOT want to raise kids in
a beach community with only one season, summer. It is too easy and the kids in
this city do not know about hardships and do not learn to work. We are next to
the high school and the kids are awful now. They look terrible and their
language is even worse, using F—K for every other word when they speak. We want
to raise kids in a more educated environment. Anyway, our thinking now.

EXCUSES. Anyway this week is not good but the week after and for sure the next

Hi. I am doing reallly good. Akiko and I went to our third Broadway show last
night for free of course. Because we get press tickets, we are in the orchestra
section. Last time we were almost sitting on the stage. We also get invited to
the after parties and get to meet the actors and actresses. Good food and really
cool.
Anyway, we are now looking at houses to purchase. This is an incredible time for
real estate and unbelievable prices out there. This is a good time to put my
almost 20 years of real estate knowledge to work. Akiko is extremely impressed
to see the way I am in business. She sends email every day from work asking
about real estate. She is totally getting into it and I am happy to be teaching
someone about this.
The sites are doing better and better and soon we are going to do home stay bed
and breakfast for international students. We are also planning to make many
cooking videos together beginning this month. I built a sound board for the
bedroom to keep the outside noise out for taping English videos.
We are fishing a lot these days. The season was really slow to begin and now is
our chance to catch stuff. Anyway, this is the situation now. Send email when

Hi. I was extremely sick recently. I began not feeling good about three weeks
ago. For a few days was running almost 104 fever. It turned out to be the
chicken pox. Anyway usually I can work even if sick but not this time. Getting
better now though. Recently met many people which we both know. Everyone talking
shit about each other. Began thinking a lot about people and especially San
Diegan. The are unreliable and unsophisticated. Taking a lot of time away from
everyone recently and focusing on my work. Pretty good chance for me to go to

married. When we stayed in Japan I needed to worry about coming back and Akiko
needed to worry about the same when in this country. Could not get motivated to
do anything because of visa problems in both countries. Now can make plans in

Hi. I am really happy the contest is over. I sent out over eight thousand email
in the final round to friends, local contacts, language schools and employment
agencies. Tons of support from the international community who use my English
site. They sent really nice email. Really cool is Akiko and I made it to the
Google Gadgets top developer list in two accounts for our San Diego and English
gadgets.

Hi. I totally agree about weddings. It should be a small ceremony with only
family and really close friends. A wedding is really wasting money that could be
used for other things. In addition, it obligates people to come and to spend
money for a gift. Usually people do not want to come and do not want to spend
money on a gift.
We were really happy to get married our way. We plan to do a really small
wedding in Japan. It will be with me and Akiko and her family. It will be good
enough.
Anyway, the summer is already getting off to a fun beginning. Now I am making
event videos. Really fun and getting a lot of recognition from the community. A
couple weeks ago, I made nine videos for the House of India. The director of
Balboa Park bought a really nice lunch for me and Akiko and this week we are
going to her house for dinner.
We went to a dinner party this past weekend and now I am working on a few more

Hi. Yeah I went fishing with Akiko a couple weeks ago but it was pretty slow.
Then we went last weekend and caught a lot and then we made BBQ. I was stung by
a bee though and now kinda messed up. Anyway, on Sunday we went to the House of
India food and performance thing. My friend is the director and we got complete
lunches for free because I am taping events now. Yup, I bought an expensive and
really nice camera and now taping events. We are meeting tons of people and
getting invited all over the place. We already had and went to a few dinner
parties. Spent a couple weeks cleaning the house and now gonna enjoy the summer.

I like when you tell me these kinds of stories. You and I went through a lot
together but the tough times were few and actually we spent a lot of good times

Akiko figured out the way to do CGI programming and now the SD site is
completely and automated event posting site. No need to read long press releases
or email anymore. Everyone can post their own events.
Anyway, good you came back from Japan with no problems. I wanna see you. Need a
bit more time though because now working on finding a job for Akiko. Really she
spent a lot of time on my business and making things easier for me and now my
turn to do for Akiko.
We should all do a pot luck or something. Hey tell Risa hi if you talk. Been
