This is a story about an
international couple raising and home educating three
young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in
buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in
the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with
climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages
are about pretty much anything and everything all guided
by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes,
Being Happy. Thank you very much for joining us on our
ongoing crazy adventure.

What
is Going on?
Let it be known that I am not a conspiracy theorist, not
even close. In fact, a few years ago, during a very heated,
alcohol induced chat session, I actually lost a couple of
friends over their incessant belief in a couple of
conspiracy theories which were going around at the time. In
this new Trump era, it would as easy as it has ever been to
come up with the most outrageous scenarios, turn them into
conspiracy theories, get a following, and then drive the
entire world crazy with fictional realities.
Still there can be no doubt that the first days of the Trump
presidency indicate there must be a lot more going on than
meets the eye. To think Trump is making his crazed decisions
on his own would require a certain degree of ignorance and
naiveté that even his loyal supporters would be hard pressed
to exhibit. Suffice it to say, the men and woman standing
behind him during every signing of an executive order are
also players in this game, whose intent is something much
more than the picture being painted for the public. |

Chaos
and Civil Unrest
Trump's first executive orders accomplished exactly the
desired result....TO CREATE AS MUCH CHAOS AND CIVIL UNREST AS
POSSIBLE. Trump is a businessman, and more importantly, a
showman. A reality show star who knows how to get attention
and strong reactions from his viewers, in this case, not
only the American public, but from people all over the
world. You might ask yourself at this point, why would he
cause such disruption of our society and spread fear around
the world? There are many words which are descriptively
accurate in pinpointing the reasoning for his actions, such
as distraction and diversion, which serve to preoccupy the
minds of Americans away from a much bigger, and even scarier
agenda. Consider the following: |
- The great wall of Mexico - Okay he
campaigned on this issue, but who can say this was not
on an already compiled list of "things to do" if he won
the election.
- The ban on
immigration - Talk about an attention getter.
Unlike the wannabe wall, which affected only a couple of
country neighbors, the ban was a move which put people
into a fervor worldwide to such a degree not seen in modern times.
Nothing could get a reaction better than singling out
certain countries, seven in fact, to be picked on by our
elected schoolyard bully.
- EPA censorship - Aside from the
immigration ban, nothing was destined to bring more
protests and create divisiveness than an executive
order prohibiting the employees of the EPA from using
social media to issue policy statements and updates. In
addition, Trump threatened to delete all of the climate
change data from the EPA website, throwing the
scientific community into a data backing up frenzy.
- YOU'RE FIRED - Related to the
immigration ban, was the subsequent open and direct
defiance of the executive immigration order by the
acting deputy attorney general, Sally Yates, who was
soon terminated several hours later. Trump was showing
his intent to simply get rid of anyone who stands in his
way.
- Illegal voters - Trump continued to
insist that illegal immigrant voters inflated the
polling numbers, which favored democratic
presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, showing she had
won the popular vote in the 2016 presidential election,
even though there was no supporting evidence to support
his claims. This move further distracted the American
public, and the news media, from more important issues.
- Inauguration attendance - Trump
maintained that more people attended his inauguration
than the number who attended the inauguration of Barack
Obama, even though photographs, number of riders on
public transportation, and other factors, conclusively
proved he was wrong. Another distraction.
- Twitter Obsession - For the leader
of the free world to be tweeting like a teenager about
matters of global import seems ridiculous on its own,
and even more so to think that nobody on his staff is advising him not
to do this, taking away his Twitter account, or breaking
his fingers. Fine, he is the
president, but in any form of government, there are advisors behind
the scenes who have their own agenda, and will keep a
leader from thwarting their goals.

Defining
Autocracy
An autocracy is a system of government in which supreme
power is concentrated in the hands of one person, whose
decisions are subject to neither external legal restraints
nor regularized mechanisms of popular control (except
perhaps for the implicit threat of a coup d'état or mass
insurrection).
Trump knows that his first executive orders, especially the
ban on immigration, would quickly be challenged by
groups like the ACLU, and tied up in the courts for months,
or even years. If he didn't realize this probable scenario,
then certainly his trusted son-in-law Jared Kushner, the
bigoted Jeff Sessions, or the lovable....NOT....Steve Bannon
would have told him that such a far reaching ban would never
be able to be instituted. Then why is he making, and implementing,
these insanely ridiculous executive orders? TO CREATE AS
MUCH CHAOS AND CIVIL UNREST AS POSSIBLE, in order to
distract the public and implement much more far reaching
policies, like reducing American democracy to an institution
hardly recognizable by previous standards. Trump has all of
the personality traits of a sociopath, which is in line with
other dictators and rulers, whose mental deficiencies pushed
them to assume power and ultimately control society.
There are several examples throughout history, where leaders
caused chaos, or took advantage of existing civil unrest, as
an opportunity to take control of the government, and in
turn, the population.
In Nazi Germany, the National Socialist German Worker's
Party began a subtle political strategy to take over the
government. Following a tense social and political
environment in the 1930's, the Nazis under Adolf Hitler took
advantage of the civil unrest of the state to seize power
through cunning propaganda and by the charismatic speeches
of their party leader. By the time Adolf was appointed
chancellor, the Nazi party began to restrict civil liberties
on the public. With a combination of cooperation and
intimidation, Adolf and his party systematically weakened
all opposition to his rule, transforming the Weimar Republic
into a fascist dictatorship where Hitler alone spoke and
acted on behalf of Germany. Nazi Germany is an example of an
autocracy run primarily by a single leader, but many
decisions made by Hitler coincided with the interests and
ideology of the Nazi Party in mind, also making an example
of an autocracy ruled by a political party rather than
solely one man. Does any of this sound familiar? |
In Russia, shortly after being crowned as ruler, Tsar Ivan
immediately removed his political enemies by execution or
exile (thank goodness Sally Yates was simply terminated) and
established dominance over an Empire, expanding the borders
of his kingdom dramatically. To enforce his rule, Ivan the
Terrible established the Streltzy as Russia's standing army,
and he developed two cavalry divisions that were fiercely
loyal to the Tsar; the Cossacks, and the Oprichniki.
The Tokugawa Shogunate in medieval Japan was caught in a
vicious series of skirmishes between warring clans, states,
and rulers, all of them vying for power in a mad scramble.
While many of these lords struggled against each other
openly, Ieyasu Tokugawa seized mastery of all of Japan
through a mix of superior tactics and cunning diplomacy,
until he became the dominant power of the land. By
establishing his shogunate as the sole ruling power in
Japan, Ieyasu Tokugawa controlled all aspects of life,
closing the borders of Japan to all foreign nations and
ruling with a policy of isolationism. Again, does any of
this sound familiar? |

Is
America Next?
Think none of this can happen in America? Well think again,
because the Trump administration has already shown they will
do whatever is necessary to implement their policies while
excluding, or even eliminating, anyone who stands in their
way. The America I knew as a child, and the democracy I
learned to respect is gone, and only the consolidation and
cooperation of the American people can keep this country
from becoming nothing more than an autocracy, with supreme
power vested in one man, President Donald Trump, the
sociopath. |
