This is a story about an international couple raising and home educating three young boys on a small island in Japan, half living in buses, engaged in organic, self-sufficient farming in the middle of a mountain forest while dealing with climate, cultural, and personal challenges. These pages are about pretty much anything and everything all guided by our family motto, Taking Chances, Making Changes, Being Happy. STORY 2011
We purchased the house next to our house for the equivalent of $4,000 dollars. Many fun house parties. A strong earthquake hit Japan. A lot of trips to our favorite coffee shop.

We began the year with a trip to Nara Park. There was 3 parties during the first week and a half of January. End of the month saw some awesome sunsets. In February watched the Super Bowl. We then got hit with a pretty good amount of snow. A few more parties. The incredible news was the earthquake which hit Japan.

We went to Yoshino Mountain in April to see the cherry blossoms in bloom, known in Japanese as hanami. The trees traverse the entire mountain and due to the differences in elevation, you can see the cherry blossoms in various stages of bloom. Quite a few parties during these few months.

We began the Summer with a couple parties. Then we went to the Gion Matsuri which is one of the most famous festivals in Japan. A week later we spent an incredible day at the beach. A couple more parties. We went to see fireworks. A typhoon hit in August. We purchased the adjacent property.
