Ayumi.
Hi. I am finally returning to normal after the four day trip. Actually I meant
to say the house was a mess from all the vacation stuff. Traditionally I come
home from vacation and dump everything on the floor and then mess with it the
next day. In this case it meant four loads of laundry and cleaning out the
coolers and other stuff.
Anyway the trip was incredible. This is pretty much the recap.
Wednesday night.
I picked Akiko up from work on Wednesday night. We ate dinner, packed up the
truck and were on the road about 9:30 pm. It was a nice drive with only a bit of
light rain as we approached Las Vegas.
Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.
We arrived around 3:00 am and immediately went to our favorite gambling place,
Slots of Fun. This is one of the few places on the strip still offering two
dollar blackjack tables. We gambled and drank for a few hours and then went to
Circus Circus. This is the only time we went to Las Vegas with no room
reservations and Circus Circus was the only hotel with reasonable prices rooms.
They ended up putting us in the manor though which are like little motels in the
back of the main hotel. Normally this would be fine since we are usually up most
of the time and use the room only for sleeping, taking a shower, and um other
stuff. Anyway, there were tons of kids in Las Vegas because of some little
league football convention and the kids were playing in the hallway. I went and
complained to the management and they ended up giving us a spa suite and
reversed the room charge. Pretty cool. We went to the Rio hotel and enjoyed
their Thanksgiving Day champagne brunch. We ate and talked for three hours
believe it or not. They had all the traditional stuff and it was relly
delicious. It began to rain like crazy on the way back to the gambling place and
washed out much of the roads. It was pretty cool though. Good thing for four
wheel drive. We spent the evening gambling and drinking again and then went back
to the room, enjoyed the Jacuzzi, and then went to sleep.
Friday.
We woke up and went back to the Rio hotel and ate their breakfast buffet. Then
we drove to the Grand Canyon. We ran into a lot of traffic at Hoover Dam which
through us off a couple hours. We ended up getting the campsite in the early
evening. We were able to get one of two remaining spots and spent the night in
the truck.
Saturday.
We woke up early and went to the best spot in the Grand Canyon to watch the
sunrise. It was incredibly beautiful. We then spent the day visiting almost
every view spot on the South Rim. We made it from one end of the South Rim to
the other and then watched the sunset at the best view point. We drove back to
Las Vegas in the early evening and slept for a few hours in the truck.
Sunday.
We ate breakfast at the Paris buffet. Incredibly good buffet and excellent
quality food. We then placed ten separate bets on the Sunday games. We lost
money on the Buffalo and San Diego games. We were already ahead on our gambling
but because of the football bets, we ended up losing 24 dollars total on the
trip. We spent the entire afternoon watching football at the Paris hotel. We
walked outside on the strip for awhile at night. It was really warm, almost like
an early Summer night. We saw the fountain show a couple times in front of the
Bellagio hotel. Then we went back to the Paris hotel and hung our for awhile. We
returned home at about 5:00 am Monday, in time to take a shower, go out for
breakfast and then take Akiko to work. She was able to sleep all the way back. I
drove over 1400 miles in four days and it took until today to get back to
normal.
Anyway, the pictures are now uploaded to this address.

not interested. I am planning to make tons of videos beginning next month. I
need shirts and maybe some other stuff made up with the English site information
printed on them. I plan to exchange advertising for the cost of the items as
many companies like the barter system anytime. If you want to do this, let me
know. If not, then again, no worries. Send email when you can.

would be nice if you can make it. You do not need to bring a gift, but only
something for the pot luck like the last time. We are also inviting another
Japanese girl. We plan to play blackjack too. No money though, only plastic
chips. Should be fun talking nihongo the whole night. Hopefully you can make it.

sick time for the appointment tonight. Then we are done with this place for this

to school and work. I really appreciate you offering me a place to stay. I'm
still off on Thursdays for bagel breakfast and I'll be out of school soon! I

Hi. I was not happy you were not home when we returned last night. Akiko and I
wanted to tell you the news in person and pretty sure you said you were
definitely staying overnight. Akiko prepared dinner for you. The roommate set up
a computer for you for nothing. As soon as your friends call then you go running
to them. Suppose these friends are your real family in your mind. Was not happy
about all of this but was happy you were able to return to your ex gf house. The
situation will not be easy for you. Actually I stayed in the same house many
times after splitting up and it can be extremely difficult. If you are happy
then do what you think is good. Anyway, can meet for bagel this week but might
not be able to hang out after. This is a busy week. Send email when you can.

Hi. I want to get a couple of additional shirts made up. These would also be
white but they need to be really sexy for women. Kind of like a camisole shirt
which shows a little, um you know. Akiko and I went back and forth on this topic
but unfortunately putting youth and sexy on the site really increases the number
of visitors. Kind of a commentary on our society but true. The videos with tons
of views features Akiko with a pretty sexy shirt. These other shirts will be
used in the conversation sketches. Send email with samples when you can. Thanks.

Hi. I am going to work with Akiko tonight to make a better quality banner. If
not, then maybe plain lettering with the site name would be better. I know
people are going to ask where all these materials were made. I want to be able
to say your company as this would be excellent promotion for you. This is the
whole idea behind this mutual benefit trade of services. Anyway, it will work
out eventually. Added the 367 new pages to the English site for the new lessons.
All the pages are templates at this point but this was a good project to finish.

problem. If we are allowed all the way up S6 without chains then no problem
coming up. I know Akiko is looking forward to it. Hopefully the road will be

Hey, one of these days it would be nice to meet you at the bagel shop for lunch

Sometimes nice for a couple of talkers to get together. Let me know when you can

Hi. I want to thank you for inviting us up this past weekend. Akiko and I really
really enjoyed ourselves. Your home is incredible and it was nice to finally
talk for hours without needing to rush Akiko to work. It was nice to see the
real picture of living in the mountains. I really would like to get a place up
there but need to think a lot more now after listening to your stories.
Anyway, the food was delicious and playing in the snow was a lot of fun. We
would like to come up again when it is convenient for you guys. Should be able
to get the pictures and video online sometime today or tonight. Now doing
laundry and cleaning the house up.
I tried the renaissance station today but not working on my computer.
Really need to talk about the move to Asia. You really seem to want to do this
and pretty much a definite for us at this point. More about this next time we
meet.
Anyway, please forward this to Mary Ellen and send her email address when you
can. Thank you again.

Hi again. Yup, I learned a lot staying at your home for sure. Actually Akiko is
beginning to show much more interest in the economy and politics recently. Kind
of difficult for her to catch everything in a difficult English conversation but
good English practice nonetheless.
Another oil run, hmmmm. You know I was thinking you could do a pretty descent
restaurant review and base your ratings on the percentage of crap you find in
the oil of various restaurants, hehe.
Hey, I uploaded five videos. Go to the following link.
http://www.youtube.com/user/sandiegoevents
Within the list of 39 videos, click see all.
The Palomar videos are at the top.
Click watch in high quality if it shows up under the videos.
One of the videos was shot with the wrong setting. Easy to tell.
The others are good though.
After you watch the five videos, go back to the main page.
Click Most Viewed.
Watch the first video on the list from the House of India. The kids are
incredible.
Then watch the Summer of Change video with the dollar bill sticking out of the
car. It took second place in the Democratic Party of California video contest. I
received three thousand dollars and the video was used on television.
We totally got caught up in talking and forgot to listen to you play guitar.
Next time we should make a video of it and put it on YouTube.
Anyway, I was wondering if you want to learn Japanese in preparation for
possibly going there.
Check out my Japanese site at this address.
http://japaneselanguageculturefood.com/
Then click pronunciation.
I set up this table as an easy way to learn Japanese pronunciation using English
words.
You can click on any of the underlined test in the table and get detailed
information about the sound and the characters in the Japanese scripts. It took
me a year to get this together and set up these pages which now total about
1,600 hundred including the kanji pages. Planning to add a lot more to this site
in the coming months.
Anyway, should be up late working again tonight. Kind of a bummer the
renaissance site is not up. Could use some good music. Send email when you can.
Howie.

Um, the wood is easier. Actually I went through the TEFL program at the American
Language Institute at SDSU. It was new at the time and a lot cheaper then.
Because the program is university based, the certificate is recognized abroad as
opposed to the online crap certificates out there. You can check it out at these
links.
http://www.americanlanguage.org/amTEFL.html?nav=6
http://www.americanlanguage.org/tefl_tesl_seminar.html?nav=5
If you should decide to enroll in the program, definitely talk to me beforehand.
The director is a good friend of mine and I can probably get him to be your
mentor. The dude was tough and really turned me into a teacher. With your
masters in music and the certificate, you would be able to easily find a job
except for the age thingy. The certificate would make it much easier for me to
qualify you to work in my schools though. Freaking age discrimination over in
Asia. Really sucks unless you make your own schools. There is always China and
Thailand though. Japan is tough now. Check out the links and send email with
your thoughts.

Hi. I was picking up Akiko from work. She went in really early and was early
getting off. We went shopping and now back to work again, um on the computer.
Anyway, about the program. Yup, definitely let me know before you enroll. Easy
is good but tough will be better in the long run. Really I enjoyed the program a
lot. My friend is a really good teacher. Sure does humble a person though. They
give you this grammar test when you begin the program. Makes you realize
Americans know very little about their own language.
Totally understand about you wanting to know everything before you manage people
expected to do the same thing. Good policy for sure.
It looks like the storm will arrive soon. Should be a fair amount of rain and
maybe snow for you guys. Should be online for awhile. Send email with any
questions you might want to ask.
Howie.

Hey, I was watching the original Star Trek online with Akiko. Pretty unusual
since she is not really into it. You older dudes can watch all the original
shows online. Check out the links.

Tomorrow night we are going to another dinner party, then friend coming for
dinner on Sunday, then going to another party for new years and then another
dinner party at the house on the 2nd of next month. Busy enjoying but need to
really get back to work next month.
About sex, talk another time.
Anyway, I really need you to post on all these surveys, even if you already
posted. This is really important. Need to show activity on the pages of the new
Classroom section.

Hi. I really want to thank you for the wonderful dinner the other night and the
presents. It really was nice to talk about family stuff again. I put your banner
on all of the pages in Area Focus, about 89 pages, and in the classifieds
section, about 12 pages. Planning to link directly to the pages from the home
page beginning next week. This should give you quite a bit of exposure. Anyway,
Akiko is home from work today and tomorrow. She was really not feeling good. I
needed to push her to stay home. Ah, the Japanese work ethic. Send email when
you can.

Hi. I wanted to let you know Akiko is pregnant now. We are extremely happy and
planning to move to Japan in a few months. This has been an incredible holiday
season for us. Many dinner parties with friends at our place and theirs. We went
to San Francisco and Sequoia National Park. Then we went to Las Vegas and the
Grand Canyon for Thanksgiving. You can check out the pictures at this link.

As you already know Akiko is home today. She pretty much spent the entire day in
bed with the exception of making a quick lunch. Hopefully things improve after
she gets through the initial three months. Akiko has become very homesick
recently. Again, things should improve within the next few weeks. Thank you for
extending kindness to her anytime. Talk to you again.

Hi. I really enjoyed watching the game with you this weekend. Yup, now a
chargers fan. Um, I need to talk with you about coming to your house. I was
kinda hoping not to be real straight about this and finally no choice. Really do
not want to hurt your feelings but Akiko is really pushing to go there. The
reason for not going is because of the cat. Recently your cat is very sick and I
am too worried Akiko could catch something, especially during the initial months
of pregnancy. She is going to be checked the beginning of next year and if they
say there is no problem, then we can come. Hopefully you are not upset and
understand about my thinking. Actually we needed to cancel the Palomar trip too
because Akiko said she is too wiped out. We went out for breakfast today and she
was shindokatta and kimochi warukatta. She still has the Japanese work ethic and
wanted to go to work anyway. I needed to push her to stay home. She will be home
tomorrow again and then in on Wednesday to work a partial day. She pretty much
spent the entire day in bed with the exception of making a quick lunch.
Hopefully things improve after she gets through the initial three months. Akiko
has become very homesick recently. Again, things should improve within the next
few weeks. Send email when you can.

Hi. Thanks. Yup, I needed to change many plans because Akiko is pregnant.
Actually things will work out much better now. Many of the things I wanted to
talk with you about changed now but not totally. I want to meet you next month
and see if you are interested in working with SD businesses and making videos
for the English site. Hey, I need a favor as soon as possible. I need you to go
to the English site.

On the Class schedule, go to the pages from January 1 – January 7.
Each page has a survey.
Please leave a comment on each survey even if you already made a comment before.
This is really important and your comments are very good anytime.
A longer comment is better.
I really appreciate this.
We can talk again during the week and decide when to meet.

Hi. I wanted to tell you Happy New Year. Akiko and I will not be able to make it
to your house this weekend but thank you so much for your offer. Akiko is
getting pretty nauseous recently and cannot handle a long time on the road.
Should be better soon though. We would like to come up again in a few weeks if
it is convenient for you guys. Thank you again.
Howie, Akiko. |
