To Canada 1900 - 1919
From 1900 - 1919, nine more of the Temnegrod family children were
born. This is also when the family began emigrating to Canada from Russia.

1900 - Leah (Starkman) Temnegrod
(Rose) was born. Leah passed away in 1979.
1902 - Nathan Naftoli
Zaretsky was born in Russia. Nathan passed away on April 20, 1966.
April 24, 1902 - Isadore
(Izzy) Zaretsky was born in Russia. Isadore passed away on June 06, 1994.
January 10, 1903 - Sadie
Zaretsky was born in Russia. Sadie passed away on July 18, 1992.
1904 - Bella (Marcus) Temnegrod
(Rose) was born. Bella passed away in 1985.
1905 - Abram or Abie? Temnegrod
(Rose) was born. Abram passed away in 1970.
1908 - Jennie (Waxer) Temnegrod
(Rose) was born. Jennie once said “being a child where we came from, it
wasn’t fun. No toys to play with, no pleasures, not too much to eat, not too
many clothes. None of the children in our family had their birthdays
registered, so we didn’t know exactly how old we were. We still don’t.”
1910 - Simon Temnegrod
(Rose) was born. Simon passed away in 1977.
1912 - Joe Temnegrod
(Rose) was born. Joe passed away in 1982.
1912 - Nathan (Nussie) Temnegrod
married Shaindel Nebulsky in Radonup, Russia.
1913 - In Ukraine.
Beryl Temnegrod had bribed
officials to keep his sons out of the army. When the money ran out, Louis
Temnegrod and Max Temnegrod (my grandfather) managed to escape (most likely from
the pogroms) and came to Canada in 1913. The story goes that,
in Halifax, an immigration officer told Max, “You can’t have
that last name....I’ll give you a good honest name....then
gave him his own name, Rose.
March 17, 1916 - Louis
Rose married Becky in Toronto, Canada.
May 3 ,1918 - Irving Silverstein
(my uncle by marriage) was born in Toronto, Canada. |
