Hi. I really want to thank you for the dinner the other night. Akiko and I were
happy to spend the New Year with all of you. Hopefully there will be many
positive changes in the world this year. We wanted to come to the park but it
would have been close to 6:30 pm and we figured it was probably over. Anyway,
you guys should come for dinner when you can find the time. Talk to you again.

Hi. I am happy now Akiko and I made a plan to move back to Japan. It looks like
we are gonna move to Kobe eventually. My English site is now one of the top
sites on the Internet and planning to focus attention in that direction. Gonna
be back in business again. Really happy about it. Anyway, in the process of
remodeling the kitchen. Can probably meet next week sometime if you want to go
walking. Send email which days you are free. Talk to you again.

Hi. Yup, I am happy to be with Akiko. She is definitely different than most
girls who come from Japan. I am also very different from a typical American guy,
especially those from this city. Anyway we are very good to each other and look
after each other any time.
Yeah, definitely get together for dinner soon. It would need to be on a Friday
night. Akiko works Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
I was wondering about your situation. We might be looking for a roommate next
year. The rent is very cheap and the place is very nice. Talk more about this
when we all meet. Send email when you can.

Hi. I am happy to know your situation is stable now. Yup, a good relationship
can definitely make a difference. Akiko and I really do many things for each
other and nice to be able to talk with someone who actually listens anytime. We
are planning to move back to Japan next year. Already preparing the house and
doing many things. San Diego is nice and warm anytime but the people suck.
Cannot trust them and they do not give a straight answer anytime. In addition,
our English language site is doing really good now and need to focus in that
direction. Anyway, keep in contact and send email when you can.

but maybe next time. Anyway, happy to give you advice about the Internet. Need

should definitely do the following on your new site.

Hi. I wanted to check in. Hopefully you are doing good these days, especially
with all the garbage going on in the economy. Akiko and I continue to make new
plans for next year. Now working on the condo, you know, the sweat equity thing.
Remodeling the cabinets now. Taking off the old stain and redoing them. Kinda
sucks. Planning to replace the windows too. Anyway, try to get together for
dinner when you can find the time. Send email when you can.

Hi again. I would like to address the points in your email.
1- The concrete cracks were patched after receiving your email.
**** As stated in my previous email, we already noticed the cracks were
repaired.
2- The Board president took a look at the parking space and did not see that it
was a problem but did notice the oil spot which you will need to clean up.
**** I would like a direct contact email with the Board President. I would not
expect anyone to be able to perform a visual inspection during a dry spell and
be able to see anything. I already forwarded pictures to you showing you the
problem. In addition, the next day after the email sent to you dated September
18, 2008, your maintenance man, Mr. Wolven, was out at the parking lot doing an
inspection. He stated that there was a problem which needed to be addressed. No
doubt you trust his recommendation. Before the final coat of asphalt was
installed in the parking lot, the company put an elevated patch in the middle of
the carport. They then neglected to resurface the interior of the carport
leaving only the elevated surface. The oil spot you refer to is actually sitting
on the original asphalt and should have been covered in this most recent repair.
3- If any resident is found parking in guest parking not only will they receive
a parking violation but will also receive a fine if they choose to continue to
do so, pursuant to the fining policy in the Rules & Regulations.
**** Fine then. We will park in the spot. Again, I believe this is a potential
liability for the association.
4- If I find the person who is disposing of their cigarettes in the common area
I will send them a violation reminding them of the rules.
**** Pretty sure it is the neighbor in 6840 Hyde Park, Unit A. She is often
smoking outside and the smashed cigarette butts are directly in front of her
unit. I already spoke to her about it and no doubt this will not continue.
5- The Rules & Regulations state the following: “For sale or lease signs: shall
be of professional and dignified appearance and size: not larger than 18” x 24”.
One sign may be placed in the front of the window and one in the back on the
inside of the window. A single professional sign may be posted on the Common
Area at the front of the entrance to the complex only. It must be freestanding
so as no portion of the Common Area (buildings, landscaped areas, etc.) is
defaced.” Section 7.5 of the CC&Rs discusses this further.
**** Then the second red sign reading Val Bushree needs to be removed as it is
in violation of section 7.5 of the CC&Rs.
6- I have attached the policy regarding windows as well as the application form
that will need to be filled in and approved by the Board prior to installation.
**** I am going to read this information thoroughly.
This should help answer your questions. We also have monthly Board meetings and
there is a homeowner’s forum at the onset of the meeting should you ever like to
attend.
The meetings are not convenient for us to attend and I am not interested in
being part of a useless debate. You are the representative for the homeowners
and the liaison with the homeowners association. I expect you to relay all
concerns to the appropriate parties. I am happy to meet one on one with the
Board President to discuss these issues. I can already see there are going to be
problems with the association concerning the noise and the windows. Hopefully
these issues can be resolved without litigation. Send the email contact for the
Board President as soon as you can. Thanks.
Howard Hayman.

Hi again. I am preparing a videotape to record the traffic noise on Navajo which
will be submitted to you and to the City of San Diego. No doubt they will
recommend sound reducing landscaping. Hopefully the board will be reasonable
about this. I spoke with at least one elderly resident who goes and sits in the
recreation area every day due to the traffic noise in the afternoon, which she
stated was unbearable. Even on hot days, this woman felt pushed to go outside
because of the noise. No doubt this situation would bother you if it was your
grandparent. Not fair for these people to spend their retirement this way. Think
about it. In addition, other residents whose units do not even front on Navajo
have expressed anger over the noise. Forward this email to the Board President.
Thanks.

Hi. I sent you email exactly two weeks ago concerning the problems at the
Brentwood condominiums. The concrete cracks were patched but still no word about
the parking space problem and the landscaping. Now resending the same email with
additional concerns. Cannot believe it takes this long to get an answer. There
has been a lot of complaining recently about the poor service from your company.
I am keeping track of the time required for you to handle these problems.
This weekend will be the first significant rain in San Diego. Since parking
space 191 will be flooded again, one of the cars associated with our unit, which
is in your files, will be using guest parking since the space has not been
repaired and continues to constitute a possible liability to the homeowners
association. You need to inform the parking enforcement person, 6840 Hyde Park
Drive, Unit A, of this situation. We will not be happy to find one of those
nasty little parking violation notes on either car.
A few other situations now require your attention. Someone is throwing their
cigarette butts on the ground and leaving them there. We already confronted the
parking enforcement person, 6840 Hyde Park Drive, Unit A, since she is the only
one who smokes in this building. She denied it was her, therefore, we are
requesting you notify the homeowners association and put up notices in the
laundry rooms. This is a disgusting situation for us non-smokers.
In addition, I want two real estates signs removed. The agent is Val Bushree, a
Prudential real estate agent. It is my understanding that agents can advertise
an open house but cannot leave home for sale signs up permanently. I was in real
estate for 20 years and know in this market, the home will probably not sell for
several months. These signs are posted at the entry, are unappealing,
unacceptable and should be removed immediately. If not, then I plan to advertise
my business in the front window of my condominium.
We are planning to purchase new retrofit windows for our unit. We understand
there might be some special requirements for the windows. We are already
considering windows from Home Depot to reduce the noise. We are assuming that we
will not be required to follow strict homeowners association requirements as the
noise from the street constitutes a health hazard. We are prepared to take legal
action against any unreasonable homeowners association requirements. We expect
an IMMEIDATE REPLY to this and our other points contained in this email.
Send email as soon as you can.
Howard Hayman.

Message - Miyuki. Hi. I am really happy you agree with my thinking. San Diego is nice and
warm every day but not really a good place when it comes to the people. Not sure
why, but people seem to change and when they move to this city. They cannot be
trusted and it seems like they only think of themselves anytime. Akiko and I
continue to make our plan to move back to Japan. My English site is now one of
the top sites on the Internet and we plan to focus in that direction. Now
remodeling the kitchen and getting lots of projects finished before we leave.
Remodeling the kitchen sucks but will really look good when finished. Hopefully
you are doing good and settled in your new home. Send email when you can. Howie.
October 2, 2008 - Email
Message - Hi Howie. Yes, I totally agree with you. I just went to the Home Depot and I've got worst experience with the
casher. I bought many wood pieces, but I found one cut small piece of wood for
$1, so I bought it. but at the casher she scan the UPS code and told me it cost
$33. I couldn't believe it. I explained that a home depot floor guy told me "it
was $1," but the casher didn't believe me and says " It can't be." She starts
argue with me and there's a long line behind me. But she is stubbornly charging
me $33. I told her to ask the floor guy who told me it's $1, then she called and
verify the $1 price, but she is not sorry. Instead, she charged me the extra
quantity for it, so I told her she made a mistake. Then she loudly making fun of
me and "she still argue with me for the small amount." I guess how she said was
makes other people to believe that I'm the stupidly who can not count the pieces
and delay the casher process or something. Other people suddenly mad at me and
yell at me. The casher is the one can't do her job and I couldn't believe why I
have to be the one yell by them. I'm so embarrassed by the casher. I'm so mad at
her. I didn't do anything wrong. She did mistake and she didn't apologize for it
instead she made fun of me. What wrong with the people here. I agree people were
much nicer 10 years ago. I wish I can do something to these rude people. Anyway, when are you leaving to Japan? I hope we can meet before it. I'm doing a lot of remodeling by myself also. I'm building my bird cage and house fence right now. I'll go to Japan on 10/7, so I'm so busy to finish project before leave. Well, tell me your schedule. Talk to you later and have a nice day. Miyuki.

Message - Miyuki. Hi. I am going out walking but wanted to send email before going out because
really pissed off about your story. You should write to the company and explain
the situation and include the employee number and name of the asshole employee.
Maybe strange to say this, but I am FREAKING TIRED OF AMERICANS. They are
incredibly rude, stupid, and ignorant. Told Akiko recently, I cannot find any
pride to be American anymore. Recently I became such a bitch. Complaining many
things to the Homeowners Association and to everyone. Getting pissed about
everything now and being awful but now everyone is listening and doing what they
are told. Why people need to be awful to get others to do what they should be
doing anyway. You should always stand up for yourself and get these assholes to
lose their jobs. Americans DO NOT know the meaning of customer service. Send
email when you can. Howie.
October 2, 2008 - Email
Message - Hi Howie. Thanks for angry for me. You're so kind. I'm still angry with the casher, but most likely to me because I couldn't do
anything. In Japan, company respects customers, and I look like a woman, so they listen
to me, but here I'm looks like student and everyone just ignor me. I'm going to write an email as you suggested. I hope the casher will be in
trouble. That's sad the only things I can do is to write them and hoping she will be in
trouble. I wish I have a power. Well, thanks anyway and have a nice day. Miyuki.

doors, magnesium wheel rims and cool off road tires. Really nice burgundy color.
Gonna take some pictures and put them online.

Hi. I finally finished with all the new truck stuff. The insurance,
registration, auto club stuff is all done. Today took it in for a new radiator
and belts. Spent the last couple days detailing the thing. Since it was used
really cannot feel like we own it until completely cleaned out. Pretty anal but
the way I like to do things.
Anyway, the trip should be pretty good. Planning to camp at three different
campgrounds and, if conditions permit, take in a meteor shower this month. I am
a total science geek and relish any opportunity to experience the physical
sciences.
Would be totally cool to come up to your place next month. Let us know when you
plan to go up north and we can schedule something. We can turn it into a pot
luck and Akiko will make some food.
Anyway, if the truck is ready, we plan to pick it up on Thursday morning which
means we would be hitting the bagel shop around 7:45. Not much time to talk but
still good. Maybe see you tomorrow. Until then.
Howie.

Hi. I received the parking permit. Thanks.
I spent a few hours and cleaned the oil stain in the parking spot per your
request. A few pieces of carpeting were placed in the spot to soak up any
residue. I need the HOA to allow those pieces to stay there for a few days.
Many other issues need to be addressed.
There are still two cracks in the concrete walkway which should be repaired
before they split more during the upcoming rainy season.
The two remaining pine trees need to be removed. Your maintenance man, Mr.
Wolven, spoke with myself and Marilyn, a neighbor in the same building. He said
the trees are a fire hazard and should be removed. During the dry and windy
spell this week, the trees shed an incredible amount of debris which now covers
the roof of the building, my carport and is blowing onto the patio and getting
stuck in the window tracks, not to mention the incredible amount of dust and
pollen from these trees. These large pine trees belong in the mountains, NOT IN
A RESIDENTIAL SETTING. In addition, the roots are the cause of the cracks in the
concrete walkway. This could create potential structural problems for the 6840
Hyde Park Drive building if nothing is done.
We are being told there is the possibility the buildings will be tented for
termites. According to Mr. Wolven, the decision was already made. He stated it
is a complete waste of money and unnecessary. I cannot understand why you or the
HOA does not follow his recommendations. He knows this complex. The people on
the board do not know about construction and maintenance. In addition, these
decisions are being made without notice to the owners and residents. Many of us
do not want to attend the HOA meetings as nothing gets accomplished. I think
that any important issues should be posted in the laundry rooms, or even better,
sent to each owner and resident. We should be allowed to voice our opinions via
email or regular mail. This system is not working and many residents are getting
angry. Some stated they will not leave their homes when the buildings are
tented.
My wife Akiko and I plan to attend the next meeting if it is convenient for us.
It certainly would be nice if the board president would take some time to meet
with us privately though to discuss some issues.
Send email about all this when you can.
Howie.

friend. Really would like to see you again when you can find the time. Keep in

Hello young man.
I was just thinking about you so I thought I’d send you a very quick email to
say Hi!!
I have about three weeks left until my summer hols, so this is crunch time for
me. I don’t have exams, but as I’m studying Interior Design I have to present my
work in front of a panel of 4 people. Which in some ways is worse than an exam
because it’s kinda all happening live and I get nervous and sometime forget what
I wanted to say. Plus after you’ve presented they ask heaps of tough questions,
so you can’t get away with anything…
I’ve put on a bit of weight since I’ve been a student, so in the summer I’m
planning to get fit and healthy again…can’t wait! I’ve always been quite active
so sitting around studying is a bit of a shock to the old system. Oh yeah I’m
looking forward to getting some sun on my skin too. Look out beach here I
come…That’s one great thing about living in Australia, we’re guaranteed to
ALWAYS have a good long summer!
Well enough about me how are you sir? Are you still teaching Japanese?
Whats happening in Howies world? Ambrose Willis.

Hi. I think about you from time to time, especially recently. Akiko and I go out
breakfast to a local bagel shop these days and this dude from New Zealand is
often there. Really cool accent and makes me think of my cool interior designer
friend in Australia.
Anyway, pretty soon you will be finished with your interior design program and
making money and getting famous. Must be a tough program. I totally understand
about making presentations. When I was in college, I would find the instructors
who were not requiring these presentations and take their classes. Anyway,
designing homes will be fun. My degree and my career was in real estate. I spend
many years self employed as a real estate appraiser and was able to see the
interior of thousands of homes. It gave me ideas for my own homes. Now I am in
the process of remodeling the kitchen. Taking all the stain and varnish off and
then reapplying it. The work kind of sucks but already looking much better. Will
send you pictures as the work progresses.
Kind of funny but you mentioned about putting on some weight and looking forward
to Summer. Then I was thinking you need to wait a long time and then I realized
your summer is coming soon. Actually I put on some weight too and will be doing
a lot more walking beginning next week. Pretty warm throughout the year in SD.
Akiko and I bought a new, um used, truck recently. The truck is a 1990 Toyota
4Runner. Kind of older but in really good condition. I used to own the same
model, with some differences, but sold it before I went to Japan. I really
wanted a truck again. This week, Akiko and I will be driving up to San Francisco
for a few days to meet her cousin and friend. We decided to turn it into a
camping trip because of the truck.
Aside from the trip, not much going on. Akiko continues to work for the travel
company although we are not sure if the company will stay in business. If the
company closes we were thinking of opening English language schools in Japan or
a bed and breakfast in New York. Kind of crazy ideas but both would work. My
place in SD is paid off and no debt, unusual for an American. We would rent the
place out and keep it as a back up plan.
No doubt you read about all the financial problems in this country recently.
Crazy stuff. See what happens in the next few months with a new president and
hopefully lots of much needed changes.
Hey I was wondering if you and Jo were still together.
Anyway, I know you are busy but try to send email again when you can. I want to
know the results of your presentation. Talk to you again.

be warm and look really good. Akiko and I went to a homeowners association
meeting last night.
Anyway, I read and was really impressed with your comment. Your thinking about
the upcoming election is very good and hopefully what you wrote will inspire
some of these stupid San Diegans to make the correct decision. Anyway, it will
be nice to meet you next week. Send email when you can.

Hi. After owning my unit in the Brentwood for over twenty years, my wife Akiko
and I finally went to a homeowners association meeting last night. I was pretty
quiet about issues pertaining to the project for many years but became
frustrated recently due to numerous problems and decided it was time to attend.
After attending the meeting last night, I can now understand, and appreciate,
the scope of what these volunteer board members are up against.
The following issues pertaining to, and affecting my unit, were discussed last
night.
The plans for the new retrofit windows were reviewed and approved. I am
forwarding a copy of the approved window plans as an attachment to this email.
You, and my neighbors, will be informed when an installation date is set.
The board was informed that the recent standing water in parking space 191
soaked into the new thin asphalt coating and raised a small portion. Although
unsightly, it really does not bother us that much as our truck is usually parked
in that spot. I agreed to wait until it rains to see what repairs need to be
made.
The board has agreed to take the removal of the pine trees under consideration.
The board is looking into repairing a railing which appears to be coming away
from the 6840 building.
Please send email if you need any additional information. Thanks.

Hey, I want to apologize for the late email but actually sent to your myspace
account a few days earlier. Anyway, I totally want to see you.
This is the situation. Akiko has a cousin who is coming into SF on Friday
morning. She will be staying with a Japanese friend there but the friend needs
to work late until Friday night. Akiko and I will be driving up on Thursday
night and camping overnight at a campground. Then on Friday we will pick up her
cousin. We can spend the entire afternoon with you on Friday until your work. We
might be interested in eating at your restaurant. We are wondering if we can get
a discount. Onegai shimasu. Then maybe you can hang out with us after your work.
Not sure what everyone wants to do but happy to spend as much time with you as
possible. We are also spending the night with the friend on Friday night.
Then on Saturday everyone will be together and checking out the city. We can
hang out with you again after your work. Sometime at night Akiko and I will be
leaving to go to the Sequoia National Park and camp overnight there, unless we
get drunk.
We need to be back sometime on Sunday night because Akiko is working the next
day. Anyway, I am gonna call you on Friday afternoon or maybe you could meet us
when we pick up her cousin. Let me know what is convenient for you.
Kind of not sure if you have a car now.
We bought a really cool Toyota 4Runner with 4 wheel drive.
Anyway, send email when you can. Really cannot wait to see you again.

Akiko is not sure we can make it at 12 but we will call you when her cousin
arrives and then pick you up immediately. Her cousin arrives at 10:30 am but
since we are a bunch of freaking tourist, we might get lost a bit. lol. Anyway,
send your address now because I am making one of my famous komakai maps.
We are thinking about your restaurant although we are all on a very limited

Hey, are you serious??
Oh my goodness!!
I just figured out that Thursday is tomorrow.
Ok, here is my schedule for this weekend.
Friday, I have day off, but I am hosting at sushi restaurant from 6pm to
10:30pm.
Saturday, I work at Emporio Armani from 9:30am-7:30pm
Sunday, I work from 11:30am to 11:00pm (both Armani & restaurant).
so, can I meet you guys on Friday?
Let's have lunch and do some sightseeing.
( I don't have any idea about sightseeing though ).
I will be available until 5:00pm on Friday.
also if you want, I will have dinner with you at Saturday night after work.
I wanna bring you guys to my work place to eat yummy yummy sushi.
You can see me on Sunday, too.
Since there is a cafe restaurant at Emporio Armani, you will have a great
brunch.
this is my cell-phone # : xxx-xxx-xxxx.
by the way, are you coming up by car???

I'm sorry, I barely have checked myspace recently.
Ok, I see the situation you are in.
I like to join you guys on Friday afternoon, since I have something to do in the
morning.
so, please call me after picking up Akiko's cousin, I hope to have lunch
together around 12pm.
If you call me about 12:00pm, it will be great.
I will be ready to go see you by that time.
You will have 20% discount at the restaurant as long as I am one of your party.
But, if we are a party of more than 5 people, we will get 10% discount.
Usually restaurants don't give big discount even to employees...
Our California roll comes 6 pieces and it's $8.
The highest price roll is $14, and comes 8 pieces.
Average price of Nigir is around $5.
We also have Teriyaki chicken, tempura, and some broiled fish, spinach salad,
whatever.
It's up to your choice, but the average cost per person is around $40-$50
without drinks.
However, I can tell you that this is one of the greatest sushi restaurant in SF.
I don't have a car in SF, not necessary in this small city.
I always take train and bus.
I wanna see your new car.
Anyway, let me know if you have any question,
I am looking forward to seeing you!
Takumi.

The address is 20 Camp St, SF CA 94110 It is very difficult to find a parking
spot near my house.
There are a lot of parking spots, but always full, and kinda busy area.
If you can just pick me up and head to somewhere, it will be fine.
or, I can go to the place you want me get by train or bus.
Do you want to eat indian curry for lunch on Friday?
I know a good indian curry restaurant, and it's very cheap.
Kinda self service, but you don't have to pay tip (you can pay if you want)
less than $10 per each, and have free tea.
are you interested in it??http://local.yahoo.com/info-21327497-naan-n-curry-san-francisco
If getting together at this restaurant seems convenient for you guys.
let's do it. I can go there by bus, it's only 20 min journey.
If you don't wanna eat curry, never mind.
