KAITEN ZUSHI. Yeah a trip to Nara is not complete without visiting many times
our favorite kuru kuru sushi restaurant.

Us together with our new truck.
The rear view of our new truck.
Today our new Toyota Surf AKA 4Runner was delivered from Fukuoka prefecture. The
truck is black and beautiful with 4 wheel drive and a roof rack. This is
actually a 2000 model, Heisei 12, and still has a lot of the older model
features like the shifts on the middle console. Quite a bitch driving on the
narrow streets of Nara but gonna be nice on the Tanegashima beaches.
This car was our ride for the last few days. A little bitty Kei rental car we
used to buy hundreds of dollars of stuff for the new house before moving to the
island in a couple of days.

Whoa quite a night. Decided to reserve the family room on the ferry for this
trip and usually only us in the room. This trip the room is totally loaded with
kids. Spending the night with oldest son playing chess and drinking wine in the
lobby until the rug um tatami rats are asleep. LOL.
Now eating at a really nice buffet on the overnight ferry.
And another picture of our ride.
Now waiting to again board the ferry heading for Kagoshima.

Now waiting to ride the cargo ferry to the island. Mega windy there and they are
gonna give it a try but might need to turn back again.

Crazy storm. Been mega windy and hail much of today.
We now spent a couple of days in our new home on the island. Continuing to get
set up. Been shopping for many new appliances. Really nice to be in Japan again.
The same poster translated to “English” kind of. Shoulda consulted an English
teacher before making this.
This is a poster on the cargo ferry.
And the toilets at the convenience stores even include a bidet.
Japanese convenience store poster in toilet. Look closely at the small pictures.
Would need to be a Chinese acrobat to do your business in those positions. lol.
We went to our favorite onsen for the first time since returning to the island
again.

Facebook Post - Anyone who defends the right to own a gun is partially to
blame for the most recent shooting and for all past shootings. Guns should
simply not exist in society.

Really very sorry to say but the most recent shooting will be in the news for a
few days, maybe even a week, and then all will be forgotten, except for the
grieving families. America is a scary and disgusting society. Like every great
civilization, America has had its day but the country is on its way out. Get out
while you can.

This is the rear wall of the long driveway next to the garage. Spending this
week working on removing many years of moss and mold off the walls. The line
showing the washed area is pretty obvious in the picture. This section of the
property will be for the dogs and a play area.
This is a picture of the front yard of our new home after a bunch of weeds and
bushes were pulled out. The huge building behind the tree is the guest house
which we plan to turn into a coffee shop and the building next to it will be
used as a souvenir and gift shop.
Really love the crazy English on Japanese products. This was written on a very
delicious snack given to us by the guy who works for the car company who brought
our Toyota Surf from Kyushu to Nara prefecture.

Tanegashima friends. Does anybody know what kind of tree this is. Now it is
getting ready to flower. Please post if you know this.
The upper half of our very long and private driveway. Already removed tons of
weeds and getting ready to line the wall with fruit trees. Going to remove the
moss with strong spray. Then the wall will be painted along with the house.
Painted the enclosure for the new boiler and oil tank which should be installed
next week. Still in camping mode and showering at the local onsen.
Drying laundry in Japan. Put up some green rope temporarily on the pillars in
front of the house for drying laundry.

NO MORE INDOOR CAMPING -
We were doing basically in house camping our first week in the island house.
Buying all new stuff for my family. This week got a new washing machine,
refrigerator, boiler and tank, stove which cooks fish on both sides, kitchen
faucet, and an expensive toilet with a warming seat and massage and bidet
included. My family is really happy in this house.
GET RID OF ALL THE GUNS -
Hey friends consider this. The end result of a gun in use is a death or an
injury. Humanity is simply heading in the wrong direction and America is leading
the way. Getting rid of all the guns is much easier than you think. And no I am
not living in a dream world, I simply moved to one....Japan. Japanese citizens
do not own guns nor do they desire to. The society is kind and giving, safe and
peaceful. This place works and people are happy. The guns in America are a
symptom of a much bigger problem....society. The billions of dollars being spent
on guns and the military should be used to solve the widespread societal
programs and the degradation of American values and morality. We recently moved
from a very white conservative community whose residents defended their guns as
if they were their family. Their rational was the need to keep guns, some of
them in every room of their homes, for defense and protection. Pretty sad to
basically allow an entire country to own guns to protect themselves against each
other. Something is very wrong when people are living this way. And for all of
you who continue to defend your right to own guns for hunting, please find
another sport. A small sacrifice to rid society of these instruments of death
and destruction. If you still feel the need to kill defenseless creatures for
pleasure, try fishing. Certainly would be impossible to kill a group of students
with a fish hook. Get rid of all the guns and spend the billions of dollars
involved in that industry for repairing society.

Scored a nice table. Went to this really cool recycle shop in the north of the
island. The shop is run by a surfing couple. Bought a really nice folding solid
wood Japanese style table for the equivalent of sixteen bucks today.
Us hanging out together on basically our private beach close to our home. A
cloudy day but this place is really nice.
And our four wheel drive Toyota surf AKA Toyota 4Runner easily made it on the
beach and over a very rough access road. Met some surfers today who told us
about the road and said only four wheel drive trucks can make it there.
This is the same beach which is within walking distance from our home and is
going to be the place where we go camping. Although waiting until Spring and
Summer for sure.
We went to the beach close to our home today a week and a half after returning
to this beautiful island. A really nice place.

Tonight our first house guests came. Was really fun together.
Us hanging out together with our new kotatsu table. This house is much closer to
being set up and nice.
The long wall along the driveway with the initial coat of paint. Spent a couple
of days with a strong spray hose to remove the mold and algae.
And on a lighter note. This is the new boiler and oil tank we got installed at
the house.

A beautiful day with temperatures in the sixties and the cherry blossoms are
already in bloom. A little over an hour until a rocket will be launched from the
Tanegashima space center.

Us hanging out together at the park before the rocket launch. We all got free
rocket launch pins, and the kids got a lot of nice snacks from some old ladies
sitting next to us, and we got interviewed by the town, a newspaper, and a TV
station.
Hey look at us legally drinking beer in the park before the rocket launch.
Really good beer brewed locally at the southern town being sold at the park.
Another hanami and beautiful cherry blossoms.
The dudes at the park waiting for the rocket launch. |
