We went to a local park and campground today only a couple minutes drive from
our house for Hanami.
This poster was at the grocery store. This is all of the fish caught recently on
the island. The store is going to try and get another copy of this poster. Might
look really nice on the house.
NO MORE TRUMP POSTS -
We moved to this island to get away from the mess called America. When Trump
became president I was all caught up in the issues and spent an inordinate
amount of time online posting my frustrations....nothing changed, in fact,
things got much worse. Recently I once again found myself getting sucked in
again. I made a promise to myself, and to my family, to back away from all the
bullshit and, as of this month, I am no longer reading the news and no longer
posting about American issues. Although we will not ever be returning to my
former country, I am hoping things there become much better for my friends who
are stuck there. Hang in there and keep pushing for change.

The information on the barrel was written in Korean. A bit of investigation
online revealed this now empty barrel had contained a very popular oil based
lubricant from Korea. This was a relief since it was obviously not from the
Iranian tanker which collided with a Chinese freighter back in January. Still
there is a mystery. Wondering why this showed up on “our beach” since this
coastline is on the Pacific side of the island while Korea is located on the
China Sea side. The Kuroshio current, which runs south to north on both sides of
Tanegashima, should carry any debris from Korea north to the Sea of Japan where
this extension of the Kuroshio turns into the Tsushima current. Anyway always
something interesting on the beach and a fantastic home education topic for the
kids for sure.
Recently been walking to the beach close to our house everyday. Today there was
a bit of a surprise there. A metal barrel of an oil based lubricant was washed
up on the beach. Please see next picture.

TANEGASHIMA PICTURES. Hey check out these pictures of us in Tanegashima.
Now we moved to Nakatane. Come and say hi when you can.
Whoa nice thunderstorms today. Spent much of this afternoon working on the kids
playroom. Was still able to make it to the beach. And on the way home another
neighbor gave us a bunch of food from their farm. Such a wonderful place.

Went walking to the beach and received a ton of produce from the neighbors
again. Thank you very much.
Found a couple of approximately eight meter pieces of bamboo at the beach. Using
beach garbage to redecorate the yard.

REALLY NICE -
This is another really nice view of the coastline from the road we use to walk
to the beach from our home.
FANTASTIC VIEW -
This is the view of the coastline from the road we use to walk to the beach.
BEACH GARBAGE -
We are huge fans of using beach garbage for our projects. Good for the
environment and very cost effective. These bamboo pieces were about eight meters
long and used to construct a wall in the yard.
GOING BANANAS -
We returned to our old house on the island to pull out some of the banana trees,
um herbs, to be used in the yard of our new home. This load contained a total of
23 trees, um herbs, which should produce fruit in about 12 months.

TOTAL MESS -
Went to the farm in front of our formal rental property on the island....what a
total mess. Anyway we pulled out a bunch of herbs and flowers for our new home.

This area was a mess and now looks nice. Put in many kinds of perennial flowers
and herbs.

Us relaxing with a couple of yummy ice cream cones before heading home on the
ferry to our island again.
Another view of the active volcano from the park.
Received the new resident visa and spent a couple of hours at a nice park close
to the ferry port. The smoke in the background is an active volcano called
Sakurajima.
We are now riding on the ferry bound for Kagoshima. |
