HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LAEL
Our youngest son turned three years old and was really happy with his birthday
presents.
Yup we bought another Sambar Dias bus. The truck is for camping and long
distance trips. The newer blue bus is our town car. The old brown bus is our
farming, and fishing, and beach, and taking the doggies out vehicle.
Another fun day of fishing.
A really cool cloud rainbow the other day.
Shai got a visit from his teacher. She brings him study materials even though he
is being home educated. She stayed and ate with us. A really fun night.
We caught this rat snake on the driveway at our house and then let it go in the
next farm.
The friends in the last picture brought the leg of a deer which they got from a
friend who caught it on this island. It was cooked on a small BBQ and served at
the party.
AND ANOTHER FUN PARTY -
Last week our friends came to our house for a party. Our friend who works at the
beach came with his wife and a couple of guys from the conga band Honaka Africa
came with their wives and kids. This was a really fun party. We plan to get
together with all of them again this month.
DELICIOUS FISH -
The friends from the previous picture brought these fish for the party. The
brother caught them with a harpoon. The fish is called budai on this island and
were prepared as sashimi and some were fried and come were made with miso.
Really delicious….oshikatta desu.
HELPING PEOPLE AND MAKING NEW FRIENDS
The other day the couple in the middle of the picture got stuck in the sand at
the beach close to our house. The brother came and tried to pull them out with a
small farm truck but was unable to pull them out of the sand. We were already at
the beach collecting sand and bamboo and offered to pull them out with our 4
wheel drive Toyota Surf, AKA Toyota 4Runner. After about an hour we pulled them
out of the sand and up the steep hill. A couple days later they brought a case
of beer and then they came to the house for a small party. Now we became friends
with the brother and his girlfriend from Yakushima, the neighbor island. They
came with their 8 year old son for another party last night.
TANEGASHIMA FRIENDS
Please post a comment if you know what fish this is. THANKS.
And this was the catch from a few days later.
RAINY SEASON BEGINS AND FISHING
Kinda seems like the rainy season is beginning on our island from today. Ah, a
chance to post on FB after months of working on house projects. The outside
projects are pretty much complete with over two hundred fruit trees in now,
mostly banana, and all the other garden areas finished up. Both of our farms are
basically set for the Summer. Recently we began fishing again and this was the
catch from the other day.
Note: pretty sure all of the previous posts are for this month and
year....probably. |
