October 29, 2024 - Email Message - To Akiko for R.E. agent. Thank you for sending the picture of the vacant land. The level of weeds on the land in the picture are unacceptable. We would like the weeds to be trimmed to soil level. Many years ago we purchased a property in Nara, Japan. The property adjacent to our property was a vacant house and there was vacant land on the other side of our property. Neither property was maintained resulting in our yard being filled with creatures and insects most of the year. We eventually purchased the property with the house and began weeding the vacant lot. We moved to Tanegashima and rented a property and home next to vacant land filled with weeds which turned out to be very difficult. We returned to America to sell a property and then returned to Tanegashima where we purchased a property on the island next to a neighbor who did not maintain the land and again there were many weeds. After several disagreements with the neighbor, the neighbor began cutting the weeds on a regular basis. We own 4.5 acres of forested mountain on the island and understand the high level of maintenance required when living in the countryside of Japan. We have encountered the following on our properties in Japan as a result of the neighbors not maintaining their properties. Mamushi, Yamakagashi, Mukade, Tons of mosquitoes. We simply want a safe environment around our home. We were surprised that the buyers would think the level of weeds in the picture were acceptable. If the buyers are from the city, they might not realize the amount of maintenance required of a countryside property, especially if they are not planning to be there the entire year. I spent twenty years growing up in the snowiest location in America and know the damage that can occur to a home and property due to large amounts of snow and cold temperatures. We are very concerned about the condition of their house and the adjacent vacant land and the affect it will have on our property. We think that the buyers might be better off purchasing a home closer to the city where there are less weeds and city maintenance of the roads and weeds. Please reply to this at your convenience. Thanks. Howie.
