Friends
I decided to try and complete a couple of projects that I wanted to
do for years. The first is to sort through and keep or delete all of the old information from my
computer files. The second is to go through old pictures (the kind on film), and
match them up with dates from information contained in these files. I was going
to delete a lot of these files, such as emails, receipts, taxes, and checking account
information, but then I realized this information would be invaluable for dating
the pictures. In addition, my kids said they are really interested in my stories
and other stuff from back in the day. Anyway, it was simply easier to put all of
this information in one place, this blog, and then sort it all out after. The
information is pretty boring for those of you who
found this page....please read or ignore at your discretion. |

Konban wa. I have a lot to say to you. It would be much easier if I could speak
Japanese. I want to be very honest with you. You know that I like spending time
with you and I really think we could learn a lot from each other. The problem is
that I feel you are not honest with me at all. Rie chan and I had a big argument
because of you tonight. The problem tonight was because you changed your mind
again about going out with us. I knew it was because I wanted you to spend the
night at our home again. I know you don’t want to and it would be nice if you
would be honest about your feelings instead of changing the plan anytime. If you
don’t want to spend the night you should just say it. The fact is that your home
stay situation is awful and I thought spending time with me and Rie would be a
good break for you. Rie and I even talked about you moving in with us until you
found a better place. I really wanted to make things better for you but you have
not been honest about your thinking. Many times we invited you out and you don’t
show up and don’t call even though you say you will be there. You always seem to
try to make the situation fit what you want anytime. If we plan to meet you it
has to be at the time you want. If the situation is not exactly the way you want
then you say forget it. You really are very self centered. You said that about
yourself and it seems to be true. Anyway, Rie and I both have very good friends.
We wanted to have you as a friend but you really have to be more honest with us.

But I am busy this weekend, and I can not come to Starbucks.
I am planning to come back to Japan this winter vacation.
So I will go to TJ to buy OMIYAGE for my friends tomorrow.
Every time I come back to Japan, I have to buy OMIYAGE.
And I spend much money for it. It's not good for me.
I heard that Kumi is planning to buy a lot of OMIYAGE, too.
She want to buy Choocolate for her friends, and she might go to TJ
next weekend because there is duty free shop at the boarder.
I think OMIYAGE is a bad Japanese culture.
OMIYAGE for older people is O.K. because they give us going-away gift
(some money) before we leave Japan. And we just need to buy their
OMIYAGE depend on the money that we get from them. Many case,
only 30% of the amount is fine for their OMIYAGE.
On the other hand, young poeple don't give us the gift, but they expect
to get expensive OMIYAGE. It's stupid idea.
I hope that we will stop the OMIYAGE culture, or we should continue it
among only the people who knows Japanese old culture well.
