Welcome to my genealogy pages. For many years I wanted to
trace my family history back as far as I could, more
specifically, the Rose family history. With all of the
mundane tasks and projects that fill our daily lives, it is
often difficult to find the time to work on a project of this magnitude. With us now
settled in our new (but old) home in the Japanese countryside, I decided it was time to finally tackle this
project.
Please note, this is an ongoing project and I am hoping to
connect with as many family members as possible to make the
Rose genealogical timeline up to date and even more
complete. If you want to discuss anything on this page, or
if you have pictures or stories you would like to share with

- December 11, 1960 - Boris Waxer passed
away in TORONTO at age 54.
- Memory - Anna Mae goes on: "my father was a wonderful
gardener, deriving so much pleasure and satisfaction tending the unusual
plants which were the showpiece of the neighborhood. I'm still amazed,
wondering where he obtained those tropical plants he nurtured, we didn't
have a car and there were no nurseries in our neighborhood.

- July 12, 1961 - Glenda Fern Cohen
was born in TORONTO - 2nd child
of Marilyn and Marv, 2nd grandchild of Joe and Jean.
- July 22, 1961 - Arlene Kozsorek

of Sarah and Gordon, 10th grandchild of Louis and Becky.
- August 11, 1961 - Richard Magder
was born in TORONTO - 3rd child

- February 22, 1962 - Harry Rose passed away
in TORONTO at age
41.
- Memory - Lil remembers, "he was always a good student, finishing all 8 years
at Grace Street school, then 2 years at Harbord Collegiate, he wanted to be
an engineer. My father said "enough school, go to commercial school and come
and help me in the shop." By the time he was 16 he was working in the shop,
never liking it nor enjoying the business like my father did. He was never
able to do his own thing, dying very young at 41. He was
so talented with his hands, once picked up all the pieces needed for a
bike from the scrap shop and dump, and built his own bike, we kept it at
Wilcox Lake where we had a cottage."

- August 18, 1963 - Anna Mae Waxer married Sol Belmont

- Memory - I had taught mainly farm children in a
2-room country school in Ivy Ontario, starting in 1962. Many of my pupils
from Ivy came to our wedding ceremony on the back of a farm pick-up truck,
dressed in their Sunday-best clothes.

- March 12, 1964 - Lisa Mundel
was born in LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -

- July 23, 1964 - Fern Joy Lockhart
was born in TORONTO - 3rd child
of Marilyn and Herb, 3rd grandchild of Simon and Sylvia.
- August 16, 1964 - Sheldon Rose married Ruth Heiber
at the old
Shaarei Shomayim Synagogue in TORONTO.
- Memory - Sheldon recalls: "it wasn't until
months later that I fully understood why my Father, Simon, insisted, over my
protestations that this was the middle of my wedding reception, that I go
with him to Baycrest Hospital, to visit his brothers Louis and Max who were
both quite ill. Uncle Louis and Uncle Max were in the same ward, we sat
and chatted with them for only a few minutes. Dad said to them several times
that this was my wedding day. I believe that he was a bit shaken that
his brothers whom he loved, were so ill that they couldn't be at the wedding
and he was determined to bring even this tiny part of the wedding to them.
Ruth and I were leaving for a 2 week honeymoon the following morning and
although Dad never said it, I know he believed that it was possible I would
never see them again. Few if any of our guests even realized that my Dad and
I were missing from the festivities for almost 1 1/2 hours.
- October 21, 1964 - Louis Rose passed away
in TORONTO at age
72.
- Memory - Sippy continues: "Pa loved his family, his brothers and sisters were
so much a part of his life that he loved. He never missed a simcha be it in
Toronto or Detroit. I remember Pa in the summertime when his family were
coming out to his cottage in Pickering. Out came the samovar to be polished
and shined. Never could a glass of tea be sweeter than from the samovar.
- December 7, 1964 - Lisa Joy Rodin
was born in Toronto - 3rd child
of Sippy and Bernie, 11th grandchild of Louis and Becky.
- 1965
- July 1965 - Max Rose passed away
in TORONTO at approximately age 68.
- from Lily Hayman, Cheryl and Alan: "He liked to play cards
and pinch the cheeks of his grandchildren. He was easy to get along with and
loved a good joke.
- July 4, 1965 - Gail Rose married Bill Siegel
at Beth Emeth
