Family (מִשְׁפָּחָה)

Welcome to my genealogy pages. For many years I wanted to trace my family history back as far as I could, more specifically, the Rose family history. With all of the mundane tasks and projects that fill our daily lives, it is often difficult to find the time to work on a project of this magnitude. With us now settled in our new (but old) home in the Japanese countryside, I decided it was time to finally tackle this project.

Please note, this is an ongoing project and I am hoping to connect with as many family members as possible to make the Rose genealogical timeline even more complete. If you want to discuss anything on this page or if you have pictures or stories you would like to share with other members of the family please click here to obtain contact information.

I am looking forward to speaking with all of you. Until then.

ROSE FAMILY - The Decade 2010 - 2019
  • 2014
August 31, 2014 - Howard, Akiko, and Shai Hayman move to Tanegashima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture of Japan and rent a house that has farms, and the seeds are sown (excuse the pun) for us to become a farming family.
  • 2016
May 3, 2016 - Lael Rani Hayman was born in TANEGASHIMA, JAPAN - 2nd child of Howard and Akiko, 5th grandchild of Lily and Stuart, ???? great-grandchild of Max and Annie.

In Hebrew, the name Lael (לָאֵל) means "belonging to God" or "dedicated to God". The name is derived from the Hebrew prefix le (ל), meaning "to" or "belonging to," and El (אל), which refers to God.  The name appears in the Bible in the Book of Numbers (3:24), where Lael is mentioned as the father of Eliasaph, the leader of the Gershonites, a Levitical clan responsible for the care of the tabernacle's curtains and coverings. Historically, it was a traditional male biblical name, though in modern usage, particularly in Western countries, it is often a gender-neutral name for both boys and girls. In Hebrew Rani (רָנִּי) is a unisex given name that primarily means "my joy" or "my song". It is derived from the Hebrew word rinnah (רִנָּה), which signifies joy, shouting, or singing. The name Lael is meant to honor the first name of his grandparent Lily Hayman. The name Rani is meant to honor the maiden and middle name of his grandparent Lily Rose Hayman.
  • 2017
  • July, 2017 - Howard, Akiko, Shai, and Lael Hayman move to Julian, California and purchase a small two bedroom home, on half an acre of land, up in the mountains of San Diego County.
  • 2018
