Family Genealogy
Family and Friends,
This is the genealogy page for the Hayman family, as
descendants of the Temnegrod-Rose and Zaretsky families. The
Rose family had numerous family reunions and published fact
books containing names, dates, and places, and was the main
source of information for that family. The information for
the Zaretsky family was obtained online, primarily from the
"Geni" website.

Why Is This A One-Sided Family Line?
Some of you might have noticed, including my wife Akiko,
that the Hayman genealogy barely traces back to the family
of my dad and mostly to the family of my mom instead. There
are a couple of reasons for this. |
- The first is that my dad was
adopted, and the story goes that he did not find out
until he was a teenager. This means a genealogical
record would be possible in an anecdotal way,
but not genetically.
- The second is that there is almost
no information online about his side of the family. I
was able to find information for his mom and dad (and
some of his relatives), but
the information is very limited and my dad is not even
listed as their son.

This is a more detailed explanation of my genealogy as
summarized in the table
above. The information was obtained from the Rose Family Club
50th Annual Reunion Gala attendees book, while the remainder was obtained from
the "Geni" website. |

- Howard (Me) and Akiko met during the
Summer of 2002. I traveled to Japan to study the
Japanese language (I was currently going to college for
a two year degree in Japanese studies) and to get to
know Japanese culture. I stayed at the home of my ex
girlfriend, Rie. Her mom had an okonomiyaki (veggie
pancakes) restaurant on the first floor and the room I
stayed in was on the second floor. Pretty much every
night was spent eating tons of food and drinking a lot
of beer at the restaurant. The mom would not let me pay
for anything since Rie was staying at my home for free.
The Japanese Summer was extremely hot and humid and
occasionally I would take the train to Oji, a small
Japanese city, and go to the library to study Japanese
because it was air conditioned. That is where I met my
wife Akiko.
