from Dave Rose: "I was in Holland
(1944/45) with the Canadian Army. The Dutch government recently invited me
to return to partake of the celebrations commemorating their liberation by
the Canadian Forces. Molly and I spent 2 weeks in Holland as guests of the
Dutch Government. The Dutch people were extremely hospitable and eternally
grateful to Canada for our assistance in the dark years of WW2 and will
never forget us. We marched in 4 parades,
partook of 3 state dinners, enjoyed extensive sight seeing and shared the
home of a most
wonderful Dutch family. This was a very memorable occasion for both of us,
especially because I had seen the horrors of war and the devastation it
caused as well as seeing the rebuilt and prosperous country that has
emerged. For my service in WW2, I received 4 medals and now in Holland, I
received a fifth one, presented by the Dutch Government in recognition of my
help in liberating them. This last medal is the one I will treasure most.

Marilyn Cohen relates: "Mike and I are
preparing to move to the home my parents (Joe and Jean) purchased 38 years
ago, at 177 Elder St.(2 months before our marriage). When my mother became a
resident of Baycrest, we decided to keep the property in the family. As in
the past when it was occupied by my parents, we will always be happy to
welcome members of The Rose Family to our home.
