Welcome to my genealogy pages. For many years I wanted to
trace my family history back as far as I could, more
specifically, the Rose family history. With all of the
mundane tasks and projects that fill our daily lives, it is
often difficult to find the time to work on a project of this magnitude. With us now
settled in our new (but old) home in the Japanese countryside, I decided it was time to finally tackle this
project.
Please note, this is an ongoing project and I am hoping to
connect with as many family members as possible to make the
Rose genealogical timeline up to date and even more
complete. If you want to discuss anything on this page, or

- May 26, 1950 - Gail Frances Saiger
was born in TORONTO - 1st

- 1951 - Memory - Some recollections from Joyce: "Bella and Hymie
took a train from Detroit to San Francisco, fell in love with it and decided
to move there. On the way back to Detroit, their train ticket included a
free stop in Los Angeles. When they saw L.A. they thought it was paradise
and liked it even better than San Francisco. So we moved to L.A. instead. Just by the accident of a free stopover Joe opened a linen supply and
laundry until it was destroyed by fire in 1953, subsequently opening Acme
Linen Supply on Howard Street, which he operated until it was sold in 1956.

Memory - from Anna Mae: "we moved to Etobicoke, had a dry
cleaners in a new strip plaza and lived in an apartment over the store. The
old truck said,"EVANSWAY CLEANERS - SATISFACTION GUARANTEED". Stanley and I were the only Jewish kids in our
school, so my parents would drive us to Toronto every Sunday so that we
could attend Young
Judea and later B"nai Brith, to meet Jewish kids.

- Memory - As his date for the wedding reception, cousin Sheldon invited
Ruth Heiber, it was their first date, (still together after all these
years.) Larry continues: "Joe opened Smart Way Cleaners on Yonge Street, which
operated until 1959, subsequently starting Admiral Linen which operated out
of the family home on Elder Street. Everyone had a job to do, from carrying the
bundles, labeling, folding, and making special deliveries.
